I've been wondering, why are so called "Halo fans" whining about halo? They say 343 ruined it. I say they took it in the right direction, and all my friends agree with me.
If someone says they are a Halo fan, they should not hinder Halo's progression towards a bigger, better game series. If Halo were to never change, it would become boring and extremely repetitive. The change is more understandable for Halo than COD because of the time periods that both should take place in.
The storyline for Halo is getting very intense and interesting. We are learning more than ever before about the forerunners and the universe. We are going to see blue team in Halo 5, so be excited I say. 343 is trying to improve Halo, and draw people into it's story.
Halo 5 is not that same as Halo 3Heck, Halo 2 was different from CE. You don't have to have had the original games to know that, because the MCC has all the main halo games.
While the Master Chief collection is having networking issues, it does not mean the same for halo 5. The beta ran very smoothly for me with little or even no networking issues. This makes me hopeful that it will work at launch.
Trust me, Halo 5 will be a good game, it will not be COD, it will still be very different from COD. I know it must be scary for there to be changes to one of your favorite game series, I'm nervous for Battlefront myself, but no game in a series should be the same exact game as the last one because that would get boring fast.
We can leave feedback to game developers to tell them what is good, and what is bad. Then they can work from there. Halo 5 has interesting mechanics to say the least, and we should at least see if they work by playing the game, before saying it is not Halo, because no matter what you say, it is Halo. It is Halo, it is in it's name.
Halo is not dead.
I don't think halo would be better off if Bungie still made it. Many people were disappointed with Destiny. Who says Bungie would have not taken halo in the same direction as 343? You know what, Bungie would not have taken it the same direction. It would not have as much hype as it does now. Halo would not have any new players.
My brother used to hate Halo because of how it was in Halo 3. Now he is starting to like it because of MCC. He seems interested in joining the community. Who's to say others won't be like him and join the Halo community?
This may not be the Halo community any more (that's on Halo Waypoint) but I think the people on this forum should still be happy that Halo ever existed, because it is one of the games that formed this website. It is a major video game that people look at. It had history, with Bungie and Microsoft, and now 343, a new game developing company, was born out of it. Halo is not gaming to die until Microsoft does. You should all know that. You may not be the true Halo community, but you can still enjoy your old Bungie favorites.
Go ahead and play Destiny, I'll be waiting to see who is with me on what I'm saying.
Edit: So, who really thinks Halo is like COD now? Not me.

Edited by Jotaro Kujo PhD: 5/6/2015 6:55:14 PMI'm so fucking sick of hearing "you're not a true Halo fan, then" when someone dislikes the newer games. Blind faith is just as bad as great cynicism. That's all I have to say on the matter. Quit marginalizing anyone who disagrees with you.

Been so since Halo CE came out in 2001, had to stop playing because the Halo 4 Story was very boring and the mp sucked. Hopefully Halo 5 will be good but 4 made me very skeptical about the franchise even after the Halo 5 beta.
-
Since 2001, right here!
-
343 didnt ruin it. Im a prominent halo fan.
-
Nah man halo evolved some fans are liking the new halo type unlike the old ones are but if they want to stick with it let them hide in the past

Edited by StiviX: 5/7/2015 7:19:47 PMHalo's not dead. It needs to be. It was obvious when Karen Travis's was brought aboard 343i hasn't the slightest clue what to do with the franchise story wise. Halo 4 both gameplay wise, level structure, and production methods (outsourcing, really?) says they don't know what makes Halo, Halo either. Spartan IVs existence tarnishes one of the coolest aspects of the late as well.

People have every right to be skeptical about 343, and to even dislike them. Halo 4 was a travesty to the franchises iconic multiplayer, more so than Reach, and the MCC's launch is inexcusable. I don't care if it had "never been done before", as a consumer I expect my product to be finished. MCC was most definitely not finished or ready in any state to be launched. MP didn't work at all, ranking still hasn't came into any of the playlists, and instead of letting us decide what game type we want to play we instead get a rotation cycle on playlists. People have more of a reason to dislike 343 then actually like them. Sure they treat the story well, but the story in Halo was nothing to gawk about anyways. Sure they add up on the lore, but the lore has nothing to do with the games themselves, more specifically the MP.

Edited by DjNormal: 5/21/2015 3:25:00 AMHalo MacWorld demo version forever! I jest... But seriously, Bungie was done with Halo, the same way they let all their previous games come to a close. It bothers me that Microsoft is so intent on dragging out the series indefinitely. They would never have gone the way of 343i because they are all about the vague plots that go on around the character. 343i determined to explain away the mystery and focus on MC's story. It just feels like reading a series of books that suddenly changes authors. The style, pacing and personality of the series took a dramatic turn. I never felt that Bungie was super serious about Halo (or any of their games for that matter). They've always been a little tongue in cheek, burying easer eggs and pop culture references. Marathon was the same way, but I didn't realize it was such a self parody until I played it again as an adult. Jason Jones is honestly the only name I recognize from my era of fandom. Yet he must have some serious pull, since every game Bungie has made since Pathways Into Darkness has been more like a reboot of a single series than a new IP. I don't hate the direction they are going, but being a non-XB1 owner, I will once again be deprived of the future Halo franchise. This time I feel a lot less of a sense of loss and betrayal though. I mean, I finally got my Bungie back, but uh... They have made some baffling choices in their current endeavor. It still feels like Pathways Into Mara-Halo however.

All the true halo fans only played Destiny for three months then played MCC.

"They're everywhere!" -BOB I was one of those who largely missed out on Halo until recently. So I don't have all the nostalgia, community and awe of seeing those (now dated) graphics. I have been a Bungie fan since the early '90s though and I was originally very excited about Halo. In the end, it was a pretty good series and I felt that it had reached its logical conclusion prior to 343i's adoption of the game. I don't always have a problem with another company taking on a game. Sometimes it can work out very well, Amy Henning turned Legacy of Kain into a masterpiece of storytelling through the Soul Reaver and Defiance entries. Halo is a rather unique case as its one of the only gaming franchises to exist ling enough for its fans to grow up and become its developers. Which is both awesome and terrifying. 343i hired people based on their ideas about how they could change Halo, so I can only imagine all the horrible fan-fic that was submitted with the résumés. The OP's statement that Halo will be around as long as Microsoft also troubles me. That implies that Microsoft has found a (another) product that it can milk for profit as long as it likes. Bungie ended Halo where they wanted it to end, they ended Marathon where they wanted it to end and same for Myth. It is hard to launch a new series of anything in the world today, which is why there are so many sequels and remakes. Investors want guaranteed returns, not innovation. So if we are going to see an endless series of profitable Halo games, then they will devolve into the CoD formula. But all of that is irrelevant if you enjoy the future games. So take that how you will.

Waiting to see if 343 puts my elites in Halo 5.

"Oh, you don't like Halo 4 and are dreading to see what Halo 5 is becoming? Man, you're not a true Halo fan then." Some people want to play Halo. Not Call of Duty.
-
Halo fan. Never played the first one, played second, third, odst, wars, reach, and four. I can say that I dislike 4 because I have an opinion. Halo 4 to me seemed to just plummet to me. It wasn't a bad game by any means, but it also wasn't great. I switched to Ps4 for there games but I can say that I hope Halo 5 makes up.
-
Playing since 2007!
-
I think Halo is a pretty cool guy, eh kills aliens and doesn't afraid of anything.
-
I admire your brother's desire to play the halo games but the community has become a shitty civil war of idiots in Waypoint, i suggest keep him from going there. Also Halo 5 looks great.
-
We don't post. We Just sit here and listen, that's really the smartest thing to do here on these fourms.
-
Probably in their parents' basements sipping on Dewrito Martini's blasting Linkin Park with a poster of Shadow the Hedgehog nearby.

I enjoyed halo 4 campaign. Multiplayer was fine too. People will always complain about something. Blue team is coming to the campaign! I've been waiting for this since I've read the books! Can't wait for 5!!!
-
I like the halo series it's definitely one of my favorite game series. I'm kinda looking forward to halo 5 but idk I just hope 343 actual gets things right.
-
I agree Halo 4 wasn't that bad
-
That's a lot of words that I'm not willing to read right now, but I'll get around to it

>Truth

I have multiple threads here defending Halo, 343 and especially Halo 4/5. I'm with you.
-
Ok leaving things clear I liked AW and saying it copied Titanfall is ballecks since its been developed for a longer time. Second i have loved all halo games a equal but halo 3 is my favorite. And the only thing i dislike on halo 5 is that guns look like shit. The magnum looks like a 9mm and the Br sight its just....ugly
-
very true, for some reason I was more pumped when halo 3: odst came out, I don't know why.
