I've seen others start topics on this, but I'm still running into this issue and it's so frustrating.
I started off with a hard copy of Destiny for 360 and got a disc error. It pissed me off but it was a pre owned copy from Gamestop, so I blamed myself for taking the cheap road. I tried over and over to make it work and the issue kept popping up in the middle of crucible matches and key times. I vented to my couch and decided to muster up $59 hard earned bucks and buy the digital copy to prevent this disc read error.
Well what do you know, couple days later the exact same issue happens again! I thought maybe because I saved the disc to the hard drive, and the disc could have been scratched, I saved a bad copy to my 360 and it was somehow using that bad info while I played. I wiped the hard drive and redownloaded the digital copy of Destiny, with Dark Below and other content and played from there.
Few days later, disc error. I've re downloaded the game like 4 times, cleared system cache, everything I can possibly do short of replacing the 360 and I always get a freezing screen, Problem reading disc and forced to quit, and end up at the Home screen restarting Destiny. Sometimes it goes back and re installs the game, other times it doesn't. This issue is terrible, and being it's on the lowest system Destiny supports, I feel like it's getting little to 0 attention. I'm fortunate enough to already have an Xbox One to lean on when this pisses me off, but my brother and other friends are still on 360 and I'd like to be able to play with them.
Bungie can you PLEASE address this, and let us know you see it and are actually working on a solution. Nothing is more frustration than being in a Iron Banner match, like this past week, or a Nightfall and have the screen freeze and you drop from a game. I'm literally on the verge of telling my friends and family I can't play with them anymore, because everyday I try I get this stupid error on the 360. How the hell does a digital copy have a disc error anyways?
PLEASE SEE THIS POST and at least lie and make me feel better, like your actually working on this.
Sincerely,
Frustrated, quickly balding gamer
UPDATE: As of 13 May 2015, the issue is still happening and even more frequently. I'm convinced it's not my console because others have said they are experiencing the exact same issue I am. I don't know what Bungie is doing behind the scenes, but for me this issue has gotten so frequent and bad that I hate playing 360 period, which really sucks bc my friends are on there.

Are you by any chance using an external hard drive, or a hard drive you purchased separate of the Xbox 360? (I.e. Not an official Xbox 360 hard drive?)
