Seeker Rifles
How They Work:
PRIMARY Weapon Class
-Have scope modifiers, rather than ballistic modifiers.
-Semi-auto fire, but shoots 3 projectiles at a time. Tri-barreled, no charge time.
-Projectiles fire similarly to Vandal guns- but faster (not necessarily faster than the Sniper variants, however).
-Projectiles DO NOT track when hipfired, but do track when locked on from aim-down-sights.
-If the reticle is aimed at a target, and ADS, it targets the area of the target being aimed at. If not aimed directly at target while ADS, and no target lock is acquired, shots will not track well.
-No damage falloff
-Projectiles track when ADS if: a) crosshairs are currently on target, or b) lock-on is maintained
-Beep signals lock-on to target
-Timed double jumps can evade lock-on
-All rare and higher Seeker Rifles have a single fire mode (shown under kinetic damage box in skill tree). This grants a crit multiplier of 1.25x. Otherwise there is no crit multiplier. This also helps preserve ammo, and grants increased stability per trigger pull, since one shot is being launched, rather than 3. To switch fire modes, simply press the right stick.
Stats:
-Target Lock Time: How fast lock-on is acquired when aimed at a target in aim-down-sights.
-Lock Duration: For how long a lock-on can be kept upon descoping or moving crosshairs from target.
-Tracking Strength: How aggressively targets track, when allowed.
-Velocity: The speed at which projectiles travel. Directly proportional to range, for the most part.
-Impact, mag, reload, and stability (which is usually quite high, and even better in single-fire mode). These guns could take around 10 hits to kill in PvP, and have around 18 to 27 ammo per magazine.
Strategy and Purpose:
-Upon acquiring lock-on, you can descope for a short amount of time to boost movement speed. Keep in mind that lock-on doesn't last very long, and isn't insanely accurate.
-Upon acquiring lock-on, don't necessarily aim directly at the target. Especially if your Seeker Rifle has good tracking strength, try to bend shots around cover.
*Seeker Rifles are mid-range utility weapons used to curve shots around cover. Sight upgrades can boost range to impressive levels, but velocity holds potential effectiveness at range back a considerable amount.
Seeker Rifle + good velocity + ranged scope + 3rd Eye + Single Point Sling = awesome
Edit: weakness is time to kill of course
EDITTTTTT: This weapon still requires you to ADS onto the target. The benefit is that you can then curve shots by quickly swinging your weapon away from the target and pulling the trigger. So it's not as "easy mode" as it would seem.
"It's definitely not a long range weapon, due to projectile velocity limits, lock-on range limits, and ease of dodging the projectiles, as well as lower DPS than other weapons. Please read the above edit for clarification. This is meant as a tactical weapon more than a full on lethal weapon."
