So, understandably Bungie nerfed Auto Rifles as the statistics proved they were the most over-used weapons in almost every activity. Now that they've castrated and killed Auto Rifles completley and buffed Pulse Rifles to top-tier and Hand Cannons to the most over-used genre of weapon, they might as well restore ARs to their former glory to compete with the newly buffed and overused Hand Cannons. If they re-buff ARs, will you not use Thorn anymore?
TLW: 2 Hipfire = Kill.
Thorn: 2 Headshot = Kill.
Red Death: 2 Headshot = Kill.
Scout Rifle: 3 Headshot = Kill. ( G-Demise )
Auto Rifles cannot compete with any of these weapons at close range.
If two players that were both pros shot at eachother with perfect aim from the same distance, all of the weapons I just mentioned would clearly win. Unless you get the first shot, no.
The first 3-10 shots in, you will lose any gunfight with an Auto Rifle against a skilled player.
EDIT: Bungie finally gave in. Not only are Thorn and the Last Word receiving a due nerf, but Auto Rifles are receiving the exact buff we decided on ( Or mostly )
To restore Auto Rifles to their prime damage but to keep the range nerfs in place to limit Auto Rifles to close-mid range encounters like Thorn and Last Word were originally intended to be.
Thank you all for consistently bumping this forum and I'm gladly looking forward to the Auto Rifle buff.

I still use up for anything plenty and autos have been my main since launch, it still shreds, I think it's well balanced. I think Suros is still fantastic. I think take this post and shove it up your ass.
-
Up for Anything isn't too bad.
-
TLW is a minimum 3 shot kill hip fire head shots don't do 100 damage
-
Only buff the suros Since its exotic and those guns need to be better than everything else of the class. So double its damage and leave the other autos alone. (And 3x damage doe Necro)
-
Buff the low impact ones but not the high impact ones
-
Bump.

Your forgetting about The Vanquisher VIII !!!! Suros Regime is still very good, it's all about skill and patience when using it in the Crucible. As far as the rest of the ARs, very disappointing :(

They should be un-nerfed from the last nerf. If they were re buffed completely suros can 2 shot

I don't like any of the choices so I'm gonna add a auto rifle buff to where it dosent go completely back the way it was but close to it. It's really up to bungle and the community to decide.

Agree with the buff and especially with the last edit. The range and damage falloff nerfs are fine, but the damage needs to be restored to how it was at launch. This was all done in an effort to balance PvP and to encourage us to use other guns in PvE. The problem is that they forget that for a large portion of the playerbase autos are and will always be the go to weapon. These are the people that don't come to the forums, that don't raid on any regular basis, that log in to do the Weekly Heroic and some Crucible and aren't comfortable using anything else. Auto rifles will always reign supreme in terms of use for any shooter because it's what most people are used to, especially in PvP. Just because they are (or were) used more than anything else doesn't mean they were OP, just that they were popular. I completely agree with the pulse rifle buff, that weapon class needed it. However, while I enjoy using hand cannons, sometimes I want to breakout my Suros or Abyss Defiant just to change things up. Autos are fun weapons to use. Unfortunately they are useless in pretty much any PvE situation when compared to the other 3 primary weapon classes. Bungie wants them to be mid-range weapons, then the range, damage falloff, and stability should reflect that intention, as it currently does. Damage needs to be restored so that autos are no better or no worse than the others and fill the spot Bungie intended.

I still use my vanquisher as my main. I used to DO AMAZING with autos but now I don't do as well. I do 20 times petter with the red death or last word
-
Edited by FuzzyWolfCub: 5/5/2015 3:14:24 PMI feel like all they have to do is return them to how they were before then since all the pulse rifles, hand cannons, and some scouts would all be viable options to use in crucible.
-
Nerfing HC's and PR's would be amazing. Return Destiny to beta TTK's and it would be MUCH more fun. This is my opinion of course and I'm sure it'll never happen. But yeah, rebuff AR's.
-
Assault rifles definitely need some attention, they are woefully outclassed by Everything. I think it should work like this... Hand cannons - fastest TTK at short range. Scout Rifles - fastest TTK at long range. Assault rifles - 2nd fastest TTK at short range but still effective at middle range. Pulse Rifles - 2nd fastest at long range but effective at middle range. So - Distance to TTK goes Handcannon > Assault Rifle > Pulse Rifle > Scout rifle. So a cannon should beat a Assault rifle at point blank. But a Assault Rifle can take a Handcannon on at middle distance. The longer distance fights would favour Pulse Rifles and Scout rifles. So the idea would be to create a preferred distance mismatch between you and your victim. Then the exotics could break these rules in interesting ways..

Just bring ARs back up to power, and leave Pulse Rifles and maybe smack Hand Cannons just a little bit.
-
Agree about the buff. Diagram about AR'S not being able to compete with Hand Cannons close range. They're not supposed to be. They're mid range weapons.
-
There should be one where the low impact/ high rof get a bigger buff and the high impact/low rof have a lower buff
