So I'm currently playing dark souls 2 for the first time on the Xbox one and I've been playing the game for the past 7 hours and I've only defeated the dragonrider, the pursuer & last giant, due to exploring and collecting all the items I can find, I'm currently at the wharf and I need to know where I go from here and how I should fix my class if there is an issue,
I'm currently a level 57 spellcaster

Next primary boss is in the lost bastille. there are two ways to enter. From the wharf or where you fought the persuer there is a birds nest, go to that.
-
There are some bosses you have to kill. You must kill The Lost Sinner in the Bastille. You must also kill The Rotten in The Black Gulch. If you have a fragrant branch of yore, you need to go up to the cave next to things betwixt (on your way to Majula from things betwixt, the cave will be on the left wall), and go along here to head to The Duke's Dear Freja that you have to kill. If you've exhausted the dialogue on the girl in Heide's tower, you also need to meet her in the path from Majula to heide's tower. She'll open the path to go to The Old Iron King. Kill all of these and you can advance to Castle Drangleic

try tongue but hole
-
Try jog, fatty.
-
Try praise the sun
-
Try being a Mage/ swordsman that way once you get further you will be able to die less
-
Continue through No Mans Warf, pull the switch to draw in the boat, board it, kill the flex sentry, go to lost Bastille.
-
Ring of giants doesn't seem to make any sense if you are a mage. Maybe use something like the ring of steel protection. Also, maybe buff up your STR or DEX and get a good weapon instead of a broken straight sword.
-
Stop being a dirty mage. That will work wonders.
-
Try gitting gud

You're fine, but to keep progressing you'll have to clear some important bosses that you've neglected. There's one last small area after The Lost Bastille which has one. Then you have to complete Black Gulch and its boss. You'll also have to pass the Shaded Woods and a few places after that to reach this path's final boss. So for those areas you've unlocked, just progress by killing the bosses. There's only one path of areas you haven't found, and that's going to be in this spoiler:
From Majula, you can start walking towards Heide's Tower of Flame, and in the circular room, you'll find a lady who will offer to open a seperate path. You can do this yourself by casting a miracle. A door will open after this, and you'll be able to progress through this last pathway into a couple of areas before you reach its final boss.
When I say final boss, it doesn't mean endgame. It's just that its a dead end boss; the end of the road.

Progression in Dark Souls 2 is more heavily based on defeating bosses because there is a whole new area behind their lair after defeating them. Don't worry about your levels for now because a soul vessel can reset and allow you to relocate those points if you talk with someone. That is about it.
