Russia wouldn't able to do it if US didn't help open the Western Front. Americans and the Allies were ready to take Berlin before the Russians, but they halted their advance because they knew the Germans are afraid of the Russians more and Russians want Revenge. Some Germans even ran all the way West side of Berlin to surrender to the Americans than to the Russians.
