I do well in the crucible, typically 2.0 k/d, but Asylum is my, "I'm lucky to break even" map. I cannot for the life of me find any advantageous area on it, I can't find a good route, and can't find any way to control the map in any way, shape, or form. I know that there are people who love that map, people that are great on that map, and people that are excited to see it whereas I consider going to orbit immediately when it shows up.
To those who enjoy playing on Asylum and to those who do well on that map, what do you do, and how do you do it?
Videos are greatly appreciated, as I can't seem to find any that effectively go over how to not be terrible on that map.

I used to suck at this map. Then I just didn't. There are regular avenues people tend to run though. I kill them here. Then I move to flank their spawn. My team usually goes at them from the front. I like to fist them in the rear.... Wait .... That sounds wrong.

Snipe in the middle where is B is into either doorway. Head shots fo days. Also, saving your super for when heavy ammo spawns on this map works great. Run to the heavy ammo farthest from your team and get an easy 4 kills

I love that map, it's the anomaly map that drives me crazy, holding control b is a nightmare!!!

Edited by Lj: 4/26/2015 6:53:47 PMGet control of B and snipe the door ways If you have a bad team, that map will give problems. Whoever controls B will have a significant advantage. Two huge choke points Anomaly is my bad map if my team sucks
-
I run to the other teams spawn and just pick them off, also using a super into the bottom heavy ammo area will get you a bunch of kills. I've found running into the top middle area just doesn't work
-
double smoke the bomb and peek B with a thermal ameli, phizz
-
Use universal remote and a sniper
-
You know the B door left side going up the ramp? Camp behind there. Easy line of sight to B, across the B zone and the 3 doorways converge there for easy kills. Golden gun wrecks on this map
-
Best advice, press Select, then hold Triangle
-
Get B. Smoke the enemy as they try come in and take B. You win

Asylum is one of those maps that can go either great or bad and it depends on your team a lot. If you have a team that can hold their ground the best way to play on that map is holding the top floor where B sits and watch both sides. That is how I usually play that map. for the most part, I love to run-n-gun and play up close, but for the life of me, I can't find that many good approaches for that map without getting snipped. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqrKnxWYY-A That was a fairly old game of Crucible and it was on my warlock which I rarely use anymore(prefer my hunter) and I rarely use a scout rifle. Now I usually just post up that spot with some kind of sniper, but the concept is still pretty much the same. You've just got to keep an eye on your radar so you don't get ambushed from the back side. I'm not the best player, but I can usually pull out a 2.0 k/d or above now. When I first started playing destiny in December, I was a bit rusty in crucible since I haven't been too serious into a online multiplayer mode since the original black ops, but Asylum was one of the few maps I have been scoring 2.0s on since the games release. If not the only one. According to DestinyTracker, my kill death ratio on that map averages out to be 1.9. Best of luck and hope something I said helps a little bit.

Good teams own that map, I use to think it was a CQB map, but the sight lines from the middle near B are crazy good for snipers/pulse rifles/scouts. If you use long range weapons stay at B and hold your ground if you prefer CQB run thd middle from A to C watch the open doors that people can see you from B and don't go outside
-
I just pick and choose my battles like any other map. Stay aware, use radar and think two steps ahead of the enemy and you should be fine..
-
I thought the same thing until I checked the tracker. Its actually one of my better maps. Its so small, that the action is faster, so it feels like you're dying more. The maps I like more give me a lower kd. Maybe its just being comfortable, idk.

Edited by TzuDohNihm: 4/27/2015 1:24:41 PMScout with 3rd eye, shotgun and a rocket launcher that tracks. Aim towards "B" which I am guessing the others are calling the Balcony. Shotgun as needed and RL when the heavy comes. *EDIT* Whoops, I see you said Asylum and I am talking about Anomaly. Asylum is a grenade heavy map for me, as well as watching the map when running up the stairs. You can usually see a blip of someone trying to take A or C and turn and kill them from the steps while they are on the point. But always be ready to throw a grenade into a door first then start shooting.

Worst map ever. I would consider myself a better than average pvp player and I suck on that map.
-
Doesn't matter how good you are, the shotguns will find you on that map
-
The balcony is definitely the best place, but it can also be the worst because everyone goes up there. I like to hang against the back wall where the B capture point is, and hit people coming from the side doors, however it is pretty easy to get sandwiched by two enemies, which then you can just run down the stairs to the bottom. I'm not a PvP expert or anything, but I thought I'd try giving some advice :3

Yeah I hate that map. It's poorly designed and there's nothing we can do about it.

Dance on the rotating platform for maximum efficiency.

The power position on the map is that balcony where the center heavy is. As far as routes go if you get weak drop down and run through the bottom
