Still a good idea though. Save those engrams and turn them in at HoW for Cryptarch packages with HoW engrams in em

All current engrams will become pre how gear. Same as when the dark below came out, people stockpiled and everything turned into 300 max gear, as soon as an engram is dropped. The item is already rolled. You simply have the item "unlocked" by the cryptarch.
