i'm a little disappointed we cant upgrade common or higher rarity stuff the same way as legendary gear, while I do enjoy the gear upgrade system they have now and like the design of the new gear and how the new weapons work, it stands to reason that some of the older gear of common and above rarity could have entered this realm of upgrade ability and made this DLC much bigger, which its already really good don't get me wrong
do you think lower level gear should be upgradeable similar to the newer gear, even if it takes a little longer?
edit #1: this only is my annoyance toward the fact that upgrades on gear only apply to legendary gear and not common rarity or above gear like the argus, vanir and manifold armor sets or the khostov auto rifle you get at the beginning of the game.
i do love the system they created its almost perfect!
edit #2: changed title to better represent feelings :)
edit #4: for those who don't understand and think i'm not happy i am very happy with this motive of progression and the way it was designed i just was a little disappointed it was only for legendary's thats all. don't act as if i am ungrateful when you don't even know who i am i am simply stating what i understood from the live stream and what many others i know, i play with and others on this forum were slightly let down about
does it mean we hate it No, does it mean we quit NO, i love destiny and hope for it to become even greater!
Edit: for those who do not understand the concept
the leveling system would be an evolving process similar to the necrochasm in the way it moved up to exotic status from a common
common
- for this lets sat the khostov auto rifle moves up to uncommon with one etheric light
+ this would grant it one random auto rifle specific perk
uncommon
- to progress again you would kill specific enemy to gain experience as to avoid bounty farming and one more etheric light.
+ this would again grant one more perk and a possibility of a starting perk like an element or disruptor of sorts
rare
- to move to the final position you will need to kill a strike boss and obtain their specific item to finish the weapon similar to the embalming orb or crux needed for the necrochasm and another etheric light
+ this would finish the gun and give you a random roll for the rest of the remaining missing perks and damage needed to be a current weapon
+and if you are not happy with your roll take it to banshee and re roll it like other weapons.
-
What if they made it so each upgrade to a new rarity would cost another piece of etheric light Green+etheric light=rare+etheric light=legendary+etheric light= ascended legendary
-
Edited by Corrick II: 4/25/2015 1:59:41 PMI would support this only for the fact that so many uncommon and rare armor pieces look so awesome and are just discarded at higher levels. Such a waste of great armor design. The rare warlock armor alone is worth the upgrade, looks so much better than vendor legendaries.
-
365 khovstov all day
-
Definitely not if it requires etheric
-
Its too bad those PS exclusive sets were only rare. They should have been legendary. I don't think I ever got any to drop till after I already had full legendary gear and after that all they were was parts. Stuff looked real good but just not useful. Hopefully in the future they will implement a progression system like with the necrochasm that was pretty cool.

Edited by Jcaf8: 5/11/2015 11:59:28 PMWonder and action on the tags? No offense but bungie isn't gonna see this
-
The upgrading is for light levels if your below 20 you don't need it. The new gear you get is already upgraded
-
No, that would be stupid.
-
They should add just straight up transmog
-
I would LOVE to upgrade the Stalker BNGL. It has to be the coolest looking gun in the entire game. That and Nifty_Biscuit because I like the name. :-)
-
I would never want to max a rare price of gear because it had only 1 perk. If it could randomly give us a second perk and make it legendary I could get behind that,
-
I want it to be any gear there isn't that much gear as you said that's an exaggeration but one thing I don't like about destiny is looking the same
-
I'm disappointed they went this route. Transmogrification woulda fixed a lot of the players issues with looking the same. It still doesn't fix my aesthetic issue, I'm tired of looking at my dead orbit cape. Would love to wear the scarf you get from making a hunter, but I'd lose the ability to rank up DO.

Edited by Jcaf8: 5/11/2015 11:31:17 PMYou do realize that there's over a million, yes million combos of gear. Their used to be maybe 500 or so combos
-
Baha. Very few agree with you.
-
EXACTLY, its a choice, and would provide much more customization, if you want to wear gear with a little less discipline go ahead! (Not that big of a deal anyway) an those 3 sets (vanir manifold argus) are AWESOME and basically exotic items but are stuck at rare. So i agree.
-
We still have something to complain about? Smh
-
Why would you want to upgrade green boots that give you terrible stats, +47 intellect!! Sweeeeeeet!!!! If you want to waste a slot I say go for it. Idiots.
-
Allowing people to upgrade common and rare gear would break the game. Nobody wants to see a lvl34 scrub in blue gear
-
Why would you waste an upgrade on gear that isn't legendary? If you have 3 characters than you need 9 upgrades just to hit max level on all 3, not to mention the legendary weapons there are to upgrade. It just seems like a waste to blow an upgrade on a rare or uncommon weapon. If there is any uncommon or rare weapons you like using in the Crucible than they will continue to work the same because attack values don't mean anything in the crucible. Using rare and uncommon gear in end game PVE activities is just ridiculous anyway.
-
Problem is they have to rework all the armor for that, not to mention changing armor with no light at all into light armor. Giving it good stats, balance them out etc. I'm sure it was already a pain in the ass doing that for all legendary armor and weapons. Lot of coding going was going on for making that possible. I guess something similar happened when they made the forging stuff for perks for the new legendar, weapons, but not the pre-dlc stuff. I would love to see a feature like that in the future. The blue hunter armor you constantly get as reward from ROC strike (forgot the name) looks amazing.
-
I really would like to upgrade the Stranger's Rifle...
-
Edited by SnowBodhi: 5/11/2015 11:37:38 AMHang on, only Legendary faction gear? So I can't upgrade my random drop Zombie Apocalypse? Or are you missing a comma in there? Should it be "upgrading is limited to legendary, faction and raid gear"? You see, people, this is why grammar matters.

Edited by ronin0510: 5/11/2015 11:07:38 AMI would love if Bungie made bounties you could do to upgrade rares, uncommons and commons. Like you can bring a common weapon to legendary by doing bounties that would bring it to each level until legendary. Like involve all the npcs in the tower and/or reef to make the bounties enjoyable and breathe more life into the npcs. I imagine bounties that start at the vanguard for armor or gunsmith for weapons but have you doing various tasks for other npcs for each part of the bounty for completion.

I'm sorry, but that would be stupid. I try not to be a dick to people and I don't mean that in a rude way, but upgrading everything would be dumb, dumb, dumb.
