So apparently Bungie tried to patch the Archon Priest Strike in 1.1.2 without telling anyone and did it poorly. You can no longer snipe from above the Vex Waves spawn half way through the strike at all without risk of breaking the whole strike. I had read that you couldn't use the highest rock anymore so I wasn't even that far away. I was sniping from where you shoot the 4 goblins right when you first enter the area. I made it to the second wave just fine and then everything de-spawned and I had to go re-engage the door. After killing the first wave a second time nothing else spawned and I couldn't re-engage the door, I had to just go back to orbit.
Just trying to make some other people aware so others don't have to waste their time like I did. After some more research a decent way around this is to just leave one enemy and run down there to kill it then sprint back up to the top.
UPDATE: (Thanks beedel): "This is unintentional" per bungie: https://twitter.com/bungie/status/590576802713706496
Edit - added bold and attempted to clarify what is broken.

Had the same issue on ps3.The work around you mentioned worked perfect.
-
-
I noticed it as well so what I did was leave one enemy and ran back down from highest rock, kill last enemy and ran back to rock.
-
You obviously were hiding to far away from the enemies

-
Why is this even an issue? Do you lack the skills to just stand behind the metal wall? Especially when it's rainbow burn. It's so simple.

I call dickception... They are lying. There is no way that this break was an accident. Something caused it. They want us to play differently, this is HOW they do it. Its a mechanical change folks...
-
I really don't mind that they fix the cheese, but at least put it in the patch notes.
-
It's not broken because it's working like they designed.
-
Just go to the bridge and watch your back where the hobgoblins spawn on the second wave.
-
Why do you have to go up top anyway? I understand if you're running solo, but no need for that when running with a full fireteam
-
I did it 3 times today on the NightFall and never had any issues. We sniped from the Cliffs above where the 3 Goblin snipers spawn in and from the rocks near the cave entry point. Other people I gamed with afterwards that completed Both NightFall and Weekly never mentioned it either. No one sniped from the Ship, so I don't know if it's that or not.
-
Can you not snipe from anywhere on the ledge, or do you just have to be below a certain level?
-
Sounds like an Xbox problem to me, I had no issues on PS4.
-
I've done this strike particularly a couple times for bounties and it worked the same as always. You probably just had a glitchy run.
-
I did all three back to back and never had a problem I don't know what you guys are taking about
-
And wow another post on Twitter...not here!
-
I say it's an intentional ninja patch because we're not playing it how they intended us to.
-
That's stupid. Sometimes bungie does a good job but sometimes they feel like they have to fix things that aren't a big deal. It's annoying.
-
The nightfall is easy
-
So what they are really saying is, "we are sorry you found out we made changes" they didn't intend on that...
-
I stayed back killed all enemies except one. Then ran to the place where they all spawn killed it then ran back to my hide spot. And repeated until I finished.
-
Just make sure one of your team mates stays down on the little bridge right in front of where the three hobgoblins spawn. Should keep the enemies from despawn
-
Had no issues on my end uses sniping rock vs archon priest and all and no wave resets

Edited by xBIG_LOGx: 4/21/2015 6:53:47 PMI like this though. Makes you have to engage the enemies
