I don't know maybe it's just me but the axion bolt seems incredibly underwhelming to me, both in the crucible and pve. In the crucible most of the time it won't even take down a shield. Usually it only takes the shield down by 2/3 if that. A lot of the time it ends up sputtering out even though it lands close enough that it should start tracking enemies so it gets wasted while with most other grenade I could take out groups even the tracking grenades hunters have are far more effective. Not even the voidfang armor seems to do much to buff it. Not only is it not good at pvp but it's terrible in PVE. There's nothing worse then watching it stagger mobs that it should be killing. Axion bolt should be more effective given that by using it you are giving up the ability to do AOE and damage and the trade off should be higher damage to the individual targets. I realize that it tracks but it's pretty easy to avoid most of the time and of course that's if it doesn't sputter out uselessly before getting a target. It's a high risk weapon and with being high risk it should have a better payoff. I'm not saying it should be a one hit kill but at least make it practical. Then again maybe it's just me, but that's why I made the poll to see if other people feel the same way about it as I do.
Edit: so a few people have helped out a lot and made some excellent recommendations for my build. And it's doesn't seem as bad now I do think it could still use a bit more punch. But it actually is far more usable then I thought.
Edit 2: so here's where I'm at now. Leave the damage where it's at don't make it track any faster or more aggressively leave all that the same. Either give it a slightly wider radius to lock on or give it a few seconds after it lands for it to get a lock. so that if it doesn't get a target immediately they can't just run through it. That would make you far less likely to waste it and give a very slight area denial effect.

Its meant to be a a "finisher" Use it After you Hit someone, whos hiding to regain life. Best grenade for situations like this.
-
It's good for finishing someone that you didn't kill with bullets.
-
You mean that damn grenade that I have to run halfway across the map to lose lol, I'd say it's rather weak in pve - works well in pvp depending on how you use it.
-
May b make it better for PvE, but for PvP it is strong enough. It follows you like Fallen Sperm bullets, and continues barely giving you a chance to regen health. Personally I would use the long lasting grenades anyways.
-
It's already strong enough for crucible.

Edited by MrChuckles21: 4/21/2015 4:10:24 AMYou don't have to even watch the entire thing. Just the first minute. At the heavy ammo. Use the axion bolt to start fights. Deals a little over one hundred damage if the ball connects, even better if they are in groups. Also use bloom if you want axion to be extremely effective. You will see what I mean In the clip. Also if you max discipline then your grenade is on a 25 second cooldown and you can spam little obnoxious purple balls that track and explode. I hope this helps. And voidfang vestments in my opinion is just as good as obsidian mind in Pvp.

I think you just need to learn how to use it. First off use the warlock skill that increases blast radius for all grenades and your Nova Bomb (annihilate) Second get rid of the skill that increases the range and exchange it for bloom (i get double kills all the time with it). Plus bloom is amazing with Nova Bomb. Third out on voidfang vestments. You will always have a grenade and it spawns an extra seeker. Fourth UNDERSTAND this grenade. Its great for corner campers, rooting people from hiding spots, distractions, great on groups, it's good for opening up for a kill or finishing people off, it's great for "fire and forget" since you really don't need to aim it very well to activate it. It's great for figuring out where enemies MIGHT be, because it only activates if enemies are nearby.
-
In Pve it's relatively weak but it's a nightmare in pvp. It is a chase down granade and it's very very good at what it does. It's use goes like this; throw at enemies they clear out trying to escape the bolt you charge in, running them down! If they stay and tank the damage they are half dead for you to kill, if they run you have cleared the area freeing space and potentially them showing their back to you. It's a powerful tool bud you don't quite understand its functions.

Good post and suggestion. This gernade type undermines my warlock. Especially with my voidfang vestments that supposedly enhances the axion bolt. It does not.
-
-blam!- your axion bolt
-
Axiom bolt is the best PVP grenade in the game. Put on void fang vestments and profit. But then again for most forum posters everything is OP and everything needs a buff.
-
Honestly all grenades in the game should be buffed. In crucible many grenades cannot kill you by themselves when it is thrown between your legs. Grenades are not something you always have access to in a battle and they should be able to kill groups of enemies easily if thrown precisely. When in reality you can't kill one player without adding additional damage in most cases.
-
I find it funny that ppl never complained about ppls abilities in Halo and weapons as well. But now in Destiny its "Nerf this! Buff that! This is too weak! This is so OP!" ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!!!
-
Yeah let's buff a tracking grenade lol how about we leave shit alone for once
-
If you throw it right at the enemy it doesn't even break 1/2 the shield
-
AB should be a sticky grenade
-
Agreed. It sure needs a buff.
-
I use mine to root out players who run from gunfights or are staying in cover. I also use em' to soften up opponents then blow them away with Hawkmoon or another High impact weapon (or vice versa)
-
Axion Bolt is one of the better Warlock grenades in my opinion. I would appreciate that they fix it so that if the grenade hits a target that it doesn't fizzle out because there is a dead zone in the middle. Scatter grenade is another story however. Lol.
-
It's meant to be used to give you an idea where someone is in the next room, and to chase them out of hiding. It doesn't matter if it doesn't hit them, it gets them moving and they can't fight you and avoid the bolt. Just throw it in a room, watch the direction the bolts head, and go in and clean up
-
All void walker grenades suck major balls in crucible sadly.
-
nah it def needs a buff. too slow at the least
-
I think you just suck with the Warlock.
-
Why isn't there an option called "both the second and fourth option"
-
It could use a buff in pve. I can't stand those things in pvp.
-
I sometime don't understand how the grenade works, sometimes it blows up and others it sends seekers.
