What do you think about JJ Abrams doing Star Wars Episode 7?
Personally, when I look at the Star Trek films JJ Abrams has done, I feel this stuff:
1) The guy does awesome action scenes
2) The guy uses good filming techniques
3) The guy is very "Hollywood" Blockbuster in his approach. Its a totally decent film to see in theatres, but I have pretty much forgotten the film by the time I leave the theatre and am not especially excited to buy it on Disc to watch repeatedly. In 10 years, I will probably be unimpressed.
So basically, I feel like JJ Abrams does not have the ability to create a "Bade Runner" original epic. I hope he aims for greatness and not the best of the generic, in doing Star Wars. But I'm not expecting anything outrageously excellent and original (i.e. When The Matrix #1 came out).
What do you all think?

1 ReplyI doubt it will be better than any of the original trilogy but from what I've seen it should be better than the prequels at least. Using actual sets and having a good writer are going to be helpful :)
