I've got a sneaky feeling that it's going to be 3v3vhordes.... i don't know why but I do know that it would be a bad move to split up raid groups completely. Fair enough only a small percentage raid but the only way it would work is if you can play it more than once a week so you can run with all members etc.
If you check raid statistics on the app, there's new stats for zones captured/offensive kills....wouldn't make any sense to put that there if it was just hordes.
Also just to add, it seems the community is split when it comes to PVP and PVE, merging these modes would be a good thing.

Thats what I thought. Not showing up on mine though. Maybe they havent updated the app in the UK yet or something. At least this seems to suggest they're doing something a bit more interesting than just fighting waves.

I'm in UK mate lol, it's definitely showing, maybe try update your app through google play/ AppStore? Yeah probably daydreaming too much but I'm quite intrigued as to how it's going to play out. Can imagine it being a little more than a generic horde mode.

Still nothing on android anyway. I'll just take you word for it. My thinking is whatever they're planning must be enough to replace a raid because they must be concerned that the playerbase is droppping off and this really needs to keep people playing until the next DLC comes out. I imagine most people bought the season pass for these two DLC's pretty early on, but with the next one they can't rely on people preodering it before they reach the end game. Also the picture they used on the reveal showed a giant servitor inside what looks like a cell so I think we can assume that the Prison of Eldars will include bossess too. Doesn't seem very sporting sending guardians in to kill things that are already locked up though!

I don't use imgur or anything so unfortunately can't post a screenshot for you, if I get time I'll get round to it if possible. But yeah my thoughts exactly too man, this games player base seems split between PVE and PVP, a merging of both would bring both sides of the fence together and hopefully introduce new mechanics that everyone can enjoy! One can hope at least! Hey man you gotta remember, prison of elders houses the biggest and baddest from around the galaxy so hopefully we see something new as well, as in different enemy types/tactics. Also if you look closely, it looks like the hive spore things surround the door. I'm not sure how it'll incorporate into the story or whatever but it's a possibility at least.

I'd really like to see genuine co-op play, where each player has a specific task to do in order to progress, or their own route to make sure the whole team can take down the boss. The closest thing at the moment is the Atheon fight with one team on relic and one outside. Even something as basic as having a section where one player has weapons disabled while they activate a series of confluxes/whatevers and the other two provide cover from higher up would be a nice change. If you think how much more replayable strikes would be if you had three different routes to choose from each time it could really add a lot of content. It shouldnt really matter that its only 3 either. When you think about it, the only reason you need 6 for the raid is for firepower (except atheon, and even then you could probably get away with a team of 3.), its not like you cant progress without a full team and I'd much rather see them focus on cooperative strategy than just increasing the number of enemies.

I've said this a couple times now but I'm hoping Bungie set this arena up to be multiple fireteams of 3 all in at the same time. Imagine if you had a ginormous horde comin at you and then 3 other fireteams joined in and you've got 12 people droppin supers. Wishful thinking but I think it would be awesome.

Exactly, yeah it's wishful thinking but how fun would it be? It would actually be a real challenge too! I'm taking what bungie said with a pinch of salt but I feel like this is what they are hinting at. Thanks for replying with something positive too. People can be far too serious.

My reason behind thinking it MIGHT be possible is I watched one of the way old pre release gameplay trailers where the dude gets thunderlord after like 2 min into the game...from a yellow engram...dropped by the first archon dude in cosmodrome...it decrypts as soon as he picks it up lol. But the point is after that a public event happens(walker tank) and while their 3 man team is fighting it he comments: "another fireteam droppin in...ooooh they're lvl 20's this is gonna be sick!" I immediately thought how great it would be to allow multiple fireteams into horde mode. TLDR: got idea from watching old pre release gameplay trailer you should go back and watch them and see how awesome some of that stuff would've been if it hadn't been cut.

No way, I'll have to check the footage. I did read somewhere that they want to implement everything they had originally planned. There's so much potential for this game, probably hoping abit too much I know but, it would be extremely cool for them to set it up that way with the new mode. It would bring both sides of the fence together.... Just to add, I love my thunderlord man, it's not even levelled lol

Trials of Osiris is a type of pvp mode. So that new thing on the app could be for that. They said the arena is a 3 man type of event I don't think it mean 3 on 3 with enimies. But who knows

Can't wait to see. Maybe it'll be like control but with the enemy being pve Ai. 3 fireteam versus pve enemies in a pvp setting. That be cool

It would be cool, merging the game styles would please a lot of people I imagine. So many people completely skip portions of the game if the statistics are true....bringing them together some how could only be a step in the right direction.
