BUNGIE PLEASE BLOCK THE ABILITY TO DELETE CHARACTERS AND THEIR ITEMS FROM PLAYSTATIONS "SHARE PLAY". I don't want this to happen to someone else.
I am posting this on behalf of another player who was a victim of a very cruel act. My grandson and I have been playing Destiny since February and we have made many friends in the process. My grandson has been able to meet people from all over the world. It was great until this past Friday when he met a new friend that wanted to show him something via the PS4 feature "Share Play". This other user then proceeded to delete my grandsons level 31 Titan with all of his exotics and then unfriend end him. Now he is crushed and the only thing he can do is to start from scratch. If you can't restore his character then please patch so this doesn't happen to someone else!!!!

That's very unfortunate, however Bungie doesn't offer the services to restore characters/items. Caution needs to be exercised when using the "SharePlay" option. I'm terribly sorry.
If you Share Play with someone, the viewer in control of your game has access to your gear, items, and character. This can result in dire consequences. Please note, Bungie cannot recover deleted characters, items, and gear.
https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/12440

Edited by zakk7ary: 4/19/2015 12:15:39 AMNot to be an asshole or anything but that was all his fault he was dumb enough to trust somebody else with his account it was his own stupidity i don't think that bungie should give weapons back for somebody share playing. (this is all depending on age of course) I do support the fact that bungie should give weapons back if lost in the app (not 100% sure if fixed in 1.1.2) If the person is lying then they shouldn't have the grimmor showing it. But if you lose a character to share play its your own stupidity. Again not trying to be an ass just my thoughts Zakk out

As much as I hate to say it, this is a learning experience for your grandson to NEVER allow anyone access to his technological resources that he should have password protected to begin with. The Share Play feature works fantastic when you actually want to SHARE a game with a friend, etc. but can be abused by malicious people and those people are out there in the Destiny community just like they are anywhere else. It would be important to maybe tell him not to share his resources with complete strangers on the internet lest the next thing he shares is access to your computer or personal information.

Edited by MAMGRIZZLY: 4/18/2015 11:29:08 PMDon't know if your grandson gets Gameinformer (Gamestop) Magazine, but a friend told me they published an article this month about what happened to that 11yo kid (CuckooknightHD). People who do that to anyone need to be banned by Sony. Also, would like to know if you could PM me his PSN gamertag (to know who to avoid).

I have already submitted this to Sony along with a grievance report on the user but I don't think either will do any good. But if nothing else warn your friends so it can't happen and thanks for listening!

Bungie doesn't control Share Play, that's a PS feature. You'd be better off contacting Sony with your concerns

This should probably be taken up woth sony not bungie
-
I understand the circumstances but if nothing else I want to share so hopefully it will save someone else's character. I would venture to guess that he had no less that several hundred hours it playing already and it's gone in a second. And thanks for listening!!

You'd need to petition Sony to implement this.

Sorry that this has happened to your grandson. Unfortunately bungie cannot restore your grandson's account regardless of of the situation. They also do not control the shareplay feature. This is a feature that Sony added to the ps4. In cases like this some players use it for all the wrong reasons. Again I'm sorry to hear that thus has happened to your grandson. Please note I am not a bungie employee.
