Point-by-Point Crucible Change (My Impressions)
I miss my special ammo and heavy ammo drops. A lot. Here's a point-by-point discussion of each patch note.
The significantly reduced Special and Heavy ammo drops are radical changes that, I feel in time, will ease up SLIGHTLY over time. However, the days of "Shotguns for Everybody!" is unfortunately over. My biggest complaint is that my overall game play has decreased slightly because I chew through shotgun rounds and don't have them when I need them.

What do you all think about the change? From what I've seen in the forum, I am the minority!

2 RepliesHa, I think minority is indeed the right word. I've never had more fun in Crucible now that specials are utilities, not primaries. I'm curious to see what weapons you'll be experimenting with now that the Shotgun Age is over?

1 ReplyI am a Day 1 player and Crucible is better now then it was at launch IMHO. Those that ran entire games using blink/shotgun or Felwinters Sniper as a primary really made it a pathetic arena. Shotguns are not supposed to be used ad nauseum and special ammo should be, well special not plentiful. Before the shotgun fest it was Suros that dominated and fusions at 4000 paces didn't help. Suros was nerfed a little too hard IMHO, fusions are better and now special ammo is, well special. So shotguns are more likely to be used as they should be. Situational weapons for CQC not unlimited range spam fest weapons. Those that are complaining are usually those that ran entire games with specials and primaries using lame reasoning for the crutch. Xur selling Suros and TLW is an attempt to give everyone who relied on shotguns only a new powerful primary. If you look at kills for those that don't like the patch they are always those with 80-90% of Crucible kills from shotguns or snipers. Personally I like the patch and the changes in has wrought.

1 ReplyI think You're over reacting to some initial matches you played post patch when you already had bad feelings about the patch from reading about it. I completely disagree that the overall flow of the match goes flat around special ammo. Are there some people that crate camp special ammo now? yeah, but I haven't noticed large groups of people waiting 30 seconds for special ammo either. There really is still plenty of special ammo available especially if you use armor with ammo perks. The change literally just makes it so you cannot use only a special weapon the entire match. You just have to pick and choose which situations you will need a that shotgun/sniper/fusion rifle the most. Granted I have never been one to use a special weapon the over entire matches and my ratio on kills is roughly 2:1 in favor of primary weapons over special. But even on maps like shores of time on control where I primarily snipe during the entire match I have yet to have a big issue with having special ammo when I need it.

1 ReplyIm playing crucible right now for the first time since the update and i gotta say i wish i had more sniper ammo. 4 shots for 2 minutes isnt that much.

I highly disagree. With limited special ammo why would people waste it on missing a headshot from a sniper, or not hitting all of your fusion rifle spreads. Shotguns give you easy and guaranteed kills. Shotguns are now even more dominant than before.

6 RepliesCrucible is A LOT more fun now. I actually have a k/d ratio over 2.5 since they changed it. It's nice, you don't get blasted constantly with shotties, they did good. Even before I still had fun, people remember it's a game, nothing more, just have fun

4 RepliesThe fact that people are actually here complaining about not being able to use a special weapon as a primary just makes me glad that they patched the ammo. Those are probably the same people who see an enemy way across the map and instead of easily dispatching them with a primary and moving on to support the team they instead choose to rush nearly 20 meters just to shotgun an easy target. If you are legit upset that you can't ruin the game for people that actually want to have a firefight and use SPECIAL weapons in those SPECIAL circumstances then to be honest stop complaining and learn to use your primary or leave the game. Every now and then i get thrown into a crucible match where players use shotguns as something to fall back on just in case shit hits the fan, all the while joining their team in suppressing the enemy in those medium range battles with primary weapons, i haven't had that much fun playing crucible since the first month this game came out. i know some people will hate me for this but honestly i don't really care. If you had fun running around with a shotgun then good luck doing that now, because i know for a fact that it wasn't fun for the person on the other side of the barrel.

It always bothered me before but now, sheesh the team feels it.

5 RepliesHeavy drops remain the same. Now your shotgun is used how it's meant to be used... in those "special" times where someone gets too close to you.

3 RepliesI used my shotgun pretty much as I always did. If you miss it now, maybe you were too dependent upon it? It's easy to see when the ammo crate is about to become available, everyone nearby can see the timer filling up. Find some armor with "extra ammo for shotgun" and you'll have plenty.
