Over recent weeks speculation has been whizzing around as to the content of HoW, and so too have been the complaints, particularly over the immediate lack of raid. However I would like to focus on aspects of the game I believe to be lacking, story and gear alike. Firstly I would like, in the future, to learn more about 'the stranger' and maybe see a major battle mission along the style of a raid involving an NPC fireteam assisting your own, in defending or attacking a major location. Secondly the ships, I love to fly, that was the reason I bought another copy of Star Wars battlefront 2 only a couple of years ago, I loved the space battles, and as much as I love the sparrows I would absolutely adore the opportunity to manually control and perhaps even fight from my ship, races round the asteroid belt, a raid on a skiff that is in orbit over earth threatening the city, to me it brings a whole new level of play to the fore. Finally the arena, the arena mode that is believed to come with HoW is something I believe to be a great addition to the game, however it could fail to please very easily, the arena and its win criteria must be different for each map, for instance having a different type elder in each one, different hazards, maybe one could be a labyrinth you have to find the exit to win but if you leave without killing the elder you only get access to one tier of equipment, killing him prior to escape means you gain access to the best. Another idea could be through various environmental hazards, perhaps the air slowly poisons as you play or you slowly go blind and therefore have to leave the area for a different section of the map, which will again have a new way of killing you as well as an other environment. This isn't to say that a classic wave by wave combat mode isn't enjoyable, just that you shouldn't limit the arena to it, what's more, I believe that it could be used to add so much more to the game, heavier weapons, the ability to bring down drop ships should you have a tank or something available, perhaps even enable the use of ships to build a battle of hoth style event, something I believe would be immensely fun, especially if it was tailored to each planet, on Venus for example the vex may suddenly turn up and cause damage to both sides etc.
To be honest I don't mind the HoW is being released, just so long as the HoW based raid to be released after is free to any who own HoW as I personally see it as the second half of the DLC, I'm just glad to see more stuff to do. I hope someone from the DEV team see this, and I hope you guys generally like it, feel free to make suggestions below, I'm just thinking aloud.
One more thing, the ships should upgraded based on the merits of the pilot, NOT on what level they are, if I'm an awful pilot who never scores a kill in the air I shouldn't have the best ship just because I'm an amazing ground fighter who's never missed a shot and is level 32 or whatever. Doing this could allow a level 5 to bloody the nose of even the highest level as it will always come down to skill as to whether or not you get to upgrade your ships weapons armour agility and speed (the ships rarity shouldn't effect it much, just the behaviour, some are slow and strong others fast and do nasty damage, based on looks etc and rarity will just increase where it starts stat wise (where it can cap at, uncommon is lowest legendary highest), because dum luck is fair in my opinion).
Food for thought.
