I just got slapped by a level 30 dreg(Level 31 Hunter) and was one hit killed. I hit him first and expected him to die as I'm usually able to one hit melee dregs, but I only got his health down to 1/3. I'm usually careful about melee attacks with Lightswitch active, but wouldn't it be nice if our melee attacks dealt more damage with this modifier active? Burns work both ways, so why not Lightswitch?
Edit: If you support this idea, then please create a thread on the same topic. Remember, the more threads there are like this, the more likely it is that Bungie will notice.
Edit #2: I can see how increased melee damage for players would make the nightfall easier if guardians could just go around and punch everything. But you still have to be careful. Imagine trying to melee a group of shanks or thrall with arc burn active. You wouldn't make it very far. So you still have to be careful and plan everything out.

We have the Brawler modifier now so no need.
-
The lightswitch modifier is, "minions of the darkness deal much more melee damage." Guardians are not minions of the darkness.

I blade danced all over those captains in the "disarm the mesh" part of the strike today. They laughed it off and pimp slapped me to death.
-
Get rid of light switch. It's the douchyest perk for enemies.
-
I Fist of Havoc'd a group of fallen once and a single dreg killed me with one slash, during my FoH. Lightswitch and arc burn with fallen enemies is overkill up close. Im not asking to nerf them, just telling a little story

I'm not in favor of changing the player melee output

If we want true balance applied to both sides in the nightfall then there should be no revives for Guardians. Unless, of course, the enemy gets revives as well. I'd be down for mutual lightswitch if there were higher consequences for dying, such as no revive or at least a much longer revive. Perhaps, it would take two guardians to revive one? Just thinking of ways to increase the challenge since the nightfall is no longer difficult anymore. Pretty much all soloable at this point. Maybe have a 'hard mode' with the above settings?

It should because the burns work both ways

100% Support from all of us titan mains

Edited by TwoThirds Done: 4/16/2015 5:01:23 PMBurns work both ways so light switch should too
-
I agree I think it should go both ways. At lest against the little guys, I hate getting slapped by a random thrall or dreg that slipped by my defense.
-
There already is lightswitch in PvE, it's called a shotgun.
-
I think it's cuz the str stat goes so high, It causes OHK supers on mobs like psions even with a no burn. I think it would make our str based supers unimaginably OP.

I had a close encounter with a vandal upon enter Sepiks' room on nightfall this evening. Thought I cleared all the adds on that side with my heavy. Lucked out with not getting meleed before I could *scorch* *glide* *fusion grenade* my way to safety. Lucky. Seriously: lightswitch is one of the modifiers that is strictly antiplayer. The burns go both ways, but lightswitch, angry, juggler just work against us and it's kind of lame.
-
Special melee should one hit only for both. Enemies should have timers also on melee ability.
-
Hell yes it should. You're a Gaurdian imbued with powers from the traveller and you are forging your destiny. And invisible enemies with a glitched jump distance can 300% melee YOU, but yer melee in light switch nitefalls is as effective as harsh language? Either have it both ways or nix that shit all together. This isnt WoW. It's not an MMO. It's a "shared world SHOOTER". Why Luke Smith has any input on creatures and their powers shouldn't be happening AT ALL. It's that WoW mentality that was applied to Destiny that had us RE-leveling weapons that Bungie agreed was a mistake and de-valuing raid gear by vendor gear to begin with like they agreed was a mistake.

That has always bothered me. The armor rating also bothers me. How can I be a level 32 titan, and still take damage from the low level dudes in Cosmodrome patrol? Guess they can't see the ???? like we can for higher level stuff......
-
If it works both ways, what's the point? The reason its there is to make it more challenging...
-
Yes cuz if burns work for both parties how come lightswitch can be same it is a modifier
-
I answered no. But I do think a darkswitch modifier would be extremely fun.
-
The point of Lightswitch is to not get close. Making it work both ways would make Nightfalls a bit too gung-ho and easy. Just keep your distance.
-
I would actually love to see myself melee everything in a strike. Bladedancers are going to love it.
-
Lightswitch does apply both ways, but only to your melee ability. It does not work on standard mell.
-
They notice. It's just another thread they can ignore.
