It sounds like it is. The best shotguns were the problem. So every single special got nerfed... Yet the nerf also hits the worse specials the worst. Would you want to use pocket infinity now? Just wondering...
I haven't tried yet, but all these nerfs combined:
Only 3-5 crates per map.
25% per use, 2 minute respawn.
Takes 4 crate uses, 8 minutes for full special ammo using 1 crate.
EDIT: Special ammo crates now have a 100m drop radius ( so basically the whole map)
If your teammate takes the crate, you have 20 seconds to pick up the drop or it will despawn (120s resp inc)

Special ammo is now used primarily in special circumstances... Who knew?
-
I played a little crucible last night and for the forest time in a long time, I was killed more by primary weapons than by the special weapons, shotguns in particular. They were still there, I even used mine once when someone got too close, but it wasn't every other death. This is a much needed change.
-
Im actually happy, some players forgot about their primary weapon and where using their special as a primary. It was ridiclous, this is a good decision made by Bungie.
-
Again, this further reinforces the idea of holding onto your ammo more than spamming away with it. Pocket infinity was one the fusion rifles that always kicked my ass and now it's going to be cut back too (though the fusion nerf already did that)
-
Except the problem wasn't just a few shotguns. It was almost all special weapons with the right perks. Snipers with final round, fusion rifles like the plug one, almost all shot guns. So instead of straight needing every special weapon in the game hurting pvp and pve. They simply went to the root of the issue. Instead of just dealing with symptoms they dealt with the actual problem. Now weapons like invective, ice breaker, universal remote, will actually be prized for their unique abilities!

Lool poor scrub is sad that now he can't run around the whole game with a Shotty. Good! I'm glad! Learn to use your primary scrub
-
It is a SPECIAL weapon, not a PRIMARY
-
Every nerf or buff bungie has ever done is overkill
-
I like it.

Just ran a quick control match on my titan. I dont see a problem. Still sniped & got sniped. I noticed with IB that your ammo drops back to zero when you die. You dont hold reserve ammo post death. No big D. I think it runs pretty smooth. I still got a few shotty kills in but i usually run my primary anyway. The people who truly ran around with special weps only will def be effected bit on the whole i kind of like the changes. I like the feed showing who grabbed heavy and the new box animations. I tried not to stay right on top of heavy waiting for the drop but my team instinctively knew to rally up (total randoms). So far, at least pvp wise i'm feeling the patch changes.

Edited by IcyIcicles: 4/15/2015 1:47:14 PMNo problems here. Just dont miss shots. People that are good at sniping wont have an issue with this patch.
-
I can still pretty much run a whole game with pocket infinity. But then again, I know the spawn locations and take most of them...

Edited by BannedMythicAccount: 4/15/2015 1:09:48 AMAll I know is that the ammo shortage will lead to the Sniper's average kill distance to be nerfed. While the average shotgunners AKD will be buffed. Which means the game will be more centered around mid range....maybe.
-
Great, it will probably mess up snipers a lot which sucks for me.
-
Well, at least I will have my 10 mags of last word
-
I think the patch made the ammo issue a lot better. I'm seeing less shotguns and special weapons in general and when I do see them they're being used correctly, for their actual purpose.
-
There's something called
Primaries. Use them.
-
WOLF Strike one...op
-
It's called "SPECIAL" ammo, not "COMMON" It's not meant to be your primary weapon, it's supposed to be used for special occasions sparingly. Stop crying you uneducated fool
-
-
It is enough ammo. If you don't think that's enough ammo use your primary.
-
Pocket infinity is only useful if you hoard ammo until the last 2 minutes.
-
-
Snipers are going to rule crucible they do in any PVP that focuses on mid range engagements, crucible is going to be dull as hell
-
Most kills with a fusion rifle, the secret is out. Time to make a change.
-
Thorn, TLW and Red Death will now reign supreme....well, even more so now. Lol.
