Honestly, I feel as if though the Prison of Elders is going to be a breath of fresh air for destiny. The Crota raid was a disappointment and VoG got stale after the first few times. Four alternating arenas with objectives is going to allow for a constantly changing and interesting survival/arena experience. Plus there is going to be some sweet new loot drops and bosses included. It's like a raid that changes every week! Personally I wish it was 6 player survival instead of only 3... But either way I'm exited.

Edited by albinomachina: 4/29/2015 4:01:03 PMFrom my experience with Firefight in Halo 3: ODST and Reach, it gets really boring, really fast. The only people that should be looking forward to Arena Mode are the ones that are either too incompetent to finish a raid, or don't have enough friends to form a six man fireteam. edit - one of the few things 343 did right was to replace Firefight with Spartan Ops or whatever it was called in Halo 4. I prefer stuff with a story over endless waves of enemies.
-
For all we know honestly it could very well just be a glorified strike with 3 main bosses in it instead of 1. I wouldn't be surprised. But yes I do hope it is horde mode. Doubt it tho. Too innovative too soon.
-
I would rather it was just another game mode. Not a replacement for raid activity and have all the modes tie in to the gear set.
-
Oh geez not this again.... Have you played the arena? How do you know its better? Psychic? Should I just take your gut feeling as fact? No thanks. Let's remember why VoG got stale...Bungie let it get stale they paid no attention to it after Hard Mode was released. There was no money in it for them . Check out how long it took to fix the splash damage glitch. CE sucked.....cause well, there were tons of people that bought the season pass and that was taken a bit for granted. Clearly CE was a resounding disappointment. Bungie lowered expectations for HoW given how bad TDB was.

I'm just hoping there's gonna be matchmaking
-
I agree and disagree to a point. Variety is something that is definitely needed in the game and I am eagerly awaiting any news that they give us about the arena. I still enjoy the raids. Both vog and Crota. What I don't like so much about the raids is everyone always just wanting to cheese the whole thing. Takes any form of difficulty out of it and I find that's what makes the raids boring.
-
We don't know anything about it except that it's an end game 3 player co-operative activity. Besides that, what it will be like is entirely speculative next the way the Developers frame its presentation. Yes, CE was horribly disappointing, and I'm also greatly interested in what this new activity will be like. However, humans are notoriously terrible at making predictions, and this should be no exception. Frankly, we just don't have enough information to make any sort of judgement concerning the Prison of Elders. Perhaps most importantly, we haven't played it yet...
-
I agree with this completely. But I also just wanted to say I have the same reach emblem as you...;)
-
I hope mini bosses show up.
-
Breath of fresh air? Every story mission has horde mode. Are you being serious or are you just retarded? Bungie took a huge shit on your chest when they took out the raid and another huge shit when they bagged iron banner. They took out the best pve and pvp event and you think thats a breath of fresh air?
-
I just hope it wont be a 1 per week activity. Raids are something different.
-
I think it will be because it changes weekly so that will make it have replay ability instead of killing the same few bosses over and over
-
Is your profile picture a sign for no camping?

Edited by Phat King Bing: 4/21/2015 8:16:54 PMI get the feeling those that like the arena idea over a new raid, suck in raids. They're the ones who can't pay attention. You'll find them off fighting thralls at a crota cp and causing an oversoul. They also don't shoot oracles when teleported. They refuse to listen to strategy and just assume if they shoot enough things they'll win. An arena works better for this player. "Oh shit! I was off on my own fighting things that don't matter, and I died. Good thing I don't have a job that I need to accomplish, and there are no oversouls that can cause a wipe in the arena."
-
If I want horde mode I'd play gears of war 2
-
Bad juju obsidian mind
-
I feel the same. I've always loved survival mode in games and it will be nice to have an alternative to a raid.
-
I think the game does need an activity somewhere between the raids and strikes. My hopes are that the Prison Of Elders is more of a mini raid than just a horde style mode. I think a mini raid would be cool for nights that I don't have 5 other friends online to play CE or VoG. I can typically fine 2 other friends to play with so another activity that supports 3 players is cool with me.
-
No.. It isn't..
-
Yeah, Would love more content for teams of 6 aswell :(...
-
It's like any other PvE content. It's scripted, so it will inevitably become predictable and boring.
-
Edited by Bilal: 4/20/2015 10:28:36 PMI really want to defend bungies decision, I really do but if arena mode is something like- just mindless waves of enemies in a static area, it'll be extremely boring and repetitive. That being said, if its anything unique and not just the run of the mill mindless horde mode it will be fun. For me, the mode will be badass if the environment is huge and have epic boss battles that require teamwork as well as individual skill. Heck, I even want there to be some competition between the players themselves- not like a pvp competition though, something like the three guardians spawn together and have to take a separate path and survive a wave of enemies on their own for a while before meeting up on a vantage point etc. That will promote competition between players, who died first? Who reached the meet up point the fastest. Upon meeting, there could be team objectives and of course theres always the "who got the most kills". ANYTHING to make it interesting, just not a simple mindless horde mode in a limited confined space.
-
I agree!
-
It's the True Image of Destiny, Horde Modes of Enemies with Dinklebot.
-
I don't think it's gonna be any different than most of the "story" missions. Deploy dinklebot repel waves of enemies. I hope I'm wrong.
-
The arena may be great, but the 3 man dynamic is a problem for previous six person teams. Bungie have pissed off every established raid team. I hope you're right but It's better to have a raid as well in my opinion. The fact the raid has most likely been fully built is a kick in the stones for raiders. Let's see, I've paid for it anyway.
