SORRY FOR THE HUGE WALL OF TEXT. Don't read it if you don't want to. If you are smart and want to gain another point of view on the situation, feel free to read it all. I would hope that all guardians that want to trash talk read this beforehand. I want logical arguements, not stupid, meaningless name calling.
Before I start this, I would like to clarify that I have every exotic weapon in the game (INCLUDING GJALLARHORN) available on xbox. I have used every weapon and can say that icebreaker is my favorite.
I am sick of gjallarhorn elitists on here thinking that they are so much better than everyone else. They kick players out of groups and tease them about it. It really isn't funny or cool. For all of you special snowflakes out there who don't want other people to have what you have, get a grip.
Gjallarhorn isn't as OP as people say it is (for pve it's good but not godly, for pvp truth beats it by a longshot[better tracking+bigger blast radius]). Gjallarhorn only gets targets down really fast on a solar burn nightfall. Other than that, it really doesnt melt bosses as fast as people say it does. Truth is a very close second to gjallarhorn. Its tracking is much better and the damage is fairly close to gjallarhorn's. "Oh but Wolfpack rounds are sooooo goood!" Yes, they do a lot of damage. However, Truth or Hunger of Crota can pretty much do any job that the Gjallarhorn can (eliminate the target). Personally, I am fine with doing the strike for 2 minutes more if I'm not using gjally (it doesn't really make much more of a difference than that). If I don't have it on me in a strike, I'm not going to switch it onto my character with the app. It's not worth it. It's not necessary.
Gjallarhorn is situational as hell. You use it for bosses, and even then you can only use it when you have heavy. To get heavy, you have to get lucky and find it or spend 30 minites on a weekly heroic strike to get strange coins to buy heavy. People say that you can run a whole strike with Gjallarhorn. Sure it is possible, but what kind of moron would do that? It would be more challenging to deal with the reload and finding heavy than just doing the strike normally.

Now on to the common complaints about Xur selling Gjallarhorn.
1) "Everyone will have it so it won't be as awesome!"
You special snowflakes out there need to think about how childish you are acting. It is a gun in a videogame. Who cares if you have something? No one. Everyone bought this game and has the right to enjoy it. If this means getting gjallarhorn, then everyone has the right to have a fair chance at getting it.
2) "It's going to get nerfed!"
Come on guys, really? Bungie nerfs guns because of pvp, not pve! Gjally is good for pve, not pvp! Duh!! Vex mythoclast was nerfed because people were complaining about getting killed super fast by it. Soon enough, felwinter's lie and the last word will also be nerfed! When people complain, Bungie feels the need to interfere. So why doesn't Bungie nerf guns for pve? BECAUSE THE ENEMIES ARE FREAKING COMPUTER GENERATED! THEY DON'T COMPLAIN! Why is this so difficult to understand?? Therefore, Bungie doesn't feel the need to nerf guns for pve. Also, I don't hear any of us complaining that it is too op in pve. Hmmm I wonder why... oh yea, it is because people like it the way it is! Get it through your head; BUNGIE ONLY NERFS GUNS FOR PVP.
EDIT: People are mentioning the AR nerf. If you were keeping up to date on all of those articles, they nerfed ARs in pve and pvp only to make more people use pulse rifles. That's why they had all of those graphs. It was NOT because ARS were OP in pve. They never were. Imo hand cannons have always been superior in pve. Anyways, the point is that guns aren't nerfed in pve because they are OP.
3) "Xurners didn't earn their gjallarhorns!"
Again with this special snowflake bullshit.
Earn=work
Luck=luck, not work
People who buy guns from xur actually earn them, because they did work to get those strange coins. People who get lucky didn't earn it at all. THEY JUST GOT LUCKY! "But you have to do a raid to have that chance, so you are working." Not all the time! My friend asked if I could give him the gorgons cp. He was a level 23 and had no experience. You know what I watched him get? GJALLARHORN! It pissed me off and it would do the same to any of you. Xurners are earners, most of us, INCLUDING MYSELF, got lucky enough to get gjallarhorn. Also, what about all of those poor souls out there who have put 500+ hours into this game, AND STILL HAVE'NT GOTTEN GALLY?? Don't they deserve it? Everyone should have a chance to get it. I got lucky enough to get mine at 520 hours, but many people aren't as lucky. They deserve gjallarhorn. By the way, gjally isn't off Xur's loot table. He will sell it, and when he does, I will be there to congratulate all of my friends who bought (EARNED) it.
4) "It is going to break crucible!"
You guys obviously haven't experienced the might of truth. It is a force greater than gjallarhon (pvp). With its superior tracking (I have seen it wrap around walls) and it's huge blast radius (wipe out several enemies at once), gjallarhorn cannot compare. "But Wolfpack is so op!" Not in crucible. Many of them run into walls or the floor and don't hit the enemy. I have survived Wolfpack from gjallarhorn many times. Besides, they don't do nearly as much damage in pvp as they do in pve. The masses of people who do try it in crucible if xur sells it will be disappointed, and will switch out that exotic for something much more useful (truth, the last word, thorn, etc.).
5) "Everything will be so easy!"
Why is this even a complaint? Isn't it better to get things done faster? Nuff said there.
EDIT: Some people are saying that it would make crota too easy and that you like a challenge. All it does is help to ensure that crota goes down. Do you guys enjoy wiping or something? Is that your idea of a challenge? A world where crota doesn't always go down seems more annoying than challenging.
.
.
.
.
.
Also, for the next raid, who knows what will be a key weapon. For atheon cp, it was icebreaker (to all of those who say "but gally downs atheon is 17 seconds!" please be more realistic. You know you don't do this every time you fight atheon). For crota cp, it was gjallarhorn. For the next raid, who knows what will be good! I personally think that it will be thunderlord. Fallen tend to have arc shields, and everyone knows that one of the best arc weapons is thunderlord.
EDIT: A lot of people are saying that buying guns from xur isn't as exciting as getting it as a drop. If you are one of these people, then don't buy gjallarhorn from xur when he sells it! Buying guns is a CHOICE! If you prefer waiting to get lucky enough to get it as a drop instead of having a guaranteed way of getting it, go right ahead and do that. However, this is no reason to not want xur to sell it.
EDIT: People are saying that Xur isn't random so they are keeping him from selling ghorn. He definitely is. They randomized it before the game released and planned xur to sell those guns in the order they appeared after being randomized. After megaman figured out the plan, they had to randomize it again. Ghorn is still in his loot table and will be sold.
The gjallarhorny fools out there are just going through a phase. It will be over soon enough. Xur should and will sell Gjallarhorn eventually. Try not to cry too hard guardians.
TL;DR- Xur will and should sell Gjallarhorn. It is not OP in pve, it is beat out by truth in pvp, it will not be nerfed if it is sold by Xur, people who buy it from Xur will have earned it, and the special snowflakes out there need to get a grip.
-
I have 4 gallys... But Who cares. .. No new raid
-
I hope he does sell it and when. People go to but it it turns into. No land beyond because we have to many people already so shitty that they need to depend on only that rocket launcher lol

Edited by CitrusTheNile: 4/14/2015 5:32:52 AMI really do like your post PROTOTYPE, but you always have to consider the other side of the argument. Why shouldn't Xur sell it? Really the only reason I am still playing this game is to get Ghorn. If Xur sold it, then I would put this game down for a while until HoW is released in May. I myself probably wouldn't get too excited about getting the Ghorn in a drop because I feel I deserve it and the drop should have happened a long time ago. However, if someone gets Ghorn too early then they won't fully appreciate how much easier it makes the game when you get into sticking points. However, I digress. It is funny to me how "touchy" everyone is with their guns and their gun preferences. I think the Necrochasm sucks and I know other people who love it. I honestly love my Truth and have seen it do some amazing things in regards to tracking and wiping out a whole team on PvP in one shot due to blast radius. I was in a lobby the other day and "accused" the people in my lobby who had Ghorn to be bad players and the RNG gods were giving them Ghorn to make up for their lack of skill. When I said it, I was simply looking for a predicted reaction, and that reaction occurred. Every single person in that lobby flipped shit. People are so touchy about their guns they can't even take a joke.
-
I for my part usually do not have a problem with buying exotic guns from xur. Usually. I didn't say anything when icebreaker was sold for the 100th time and won't say anything when red death will be sold again. Because people who want the gun can have it lile this if they can't get it through rng. But i don't think he should sell gally. Because it is strong, because it is a trophy. It is totally great getting your first one and for many people it's the only reason to play. Besides hawkmoon ( that you obviously never used ) gally is the one gun that stands out. Of course truth is ok too but let's be honest. Even gally's golden godlike design does make ownig it better then owning truth.
-
Truth isn't even close to gally in crotas end, you obviously haven't been a swordbearer in a lobby with all truths because let me tell you this they down him at least 2x slower. The wolfpack is essential because of the damage it causes in 2 bursts and blast radius means nothing againt bosses.
-
I honestly hope he never sells it. I'd rather see people complain when someone else gets it, or the person committing suicide for not getting it. That's just me though.. :)
-
To be honest, I think a much better solution to this whole Xur issue would be to make all exotics require a bounty or quest, but that they are only obtainable through Xur once a week for strange coins. It would certainly eliminate this whole ugly earned/xurned debate and give players something more to do. Similar to the current Xur setup, once a week, he'd bring a random exotic bounty for each class and one or 2 weapons. I suppose he'd also continue to bring an exotic engram once in a while as well. Or perhaps a legendary engram instead.
-
If you read all that you the real mvp
-
Who cares about the gally.... No new raid.... Smfh
-
Xur should sell Gjallarhorn cause... NO RAID!!!!

Bagging on exclusiveness is illogical in itself, guns are fun to grind for because when you finally get rewarded with it you feel accomplished, proud, and exclusive. It's an exotic for gods sake, it should be EXOTIC. I don't agree with the premise of Xur in general because it breaks the meaning of exotic, but I believe he shouldn't sell the ghorn (if he did I wouldn't really care bc it's not that big of a deal but theoretically speaking) because it's one of those weapons you want to work for. Yeah some people haven't got it and that sucks but it's that carrot that keeps people going, as for being OP in PvE I believe that shortening it with everyone having it would suck the fun out of it. The funniest part of raids and strikes is when people ask who has the ghorn and 1-2 people pull it out instead of everyone, makes it more about tactics rather than power and I like that idea. If everyone had ghorn in a raid team then crota would be more of a joke and wouldn't take much tactical skill. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't have the ghorn btw. Check my grimoire.

Edited by xXDreoussXL33TX: 4/14/2015 4:44:56 AMJust go and never come back. Hes not selling it for a very long time at least quit trying to take the easier way out by having xur sell it deal with RNG like a normal person
-
STFU. HE IS NOT GOING TO EVER SELL IT AGAIN, BREAK YOUR CONTROLLER WITH YOUR TV, YES I SAID WITH YOUR TV
-
Or you just want him to sell it because you don't have one.
-
If you hang out with "ghorn elitists" you need to find new people to hang out with..

Edited by FamedGunfighter: 4/14/2015 4:37:57 AMJust got mine tonight from hard CE at 1,138 hours. It was the only exotic I didn't have. Glad to have it but would not have minded if Xur sold it. I have a ton of strange coins and little to spend them on. I didn't clap or cheer I just said 'finally' after seeing it get handed out 6 times this week to folks who've put in a lot less time in the game than I have. Still, nice to have one for the occasion where I might need it though I've done fine without it.
-
Edited by RoseScythe: 4/14/2015 4:38:35 AMYou didn't even suggest why it should be sold. Your entire post is merely an assortment of flawed, contradictory responses to strawman arguments. Here are my personal favourites:
THE ENEMIES ARE FREAKING COMPUTER GENERATED! THEY DON'T COMPLAIN!
Easily the most ridiculous rationale for lack of PVE nerfs I've ever read.
Do you guys enjoy wiping or something?
Implying the Gjallarhorn is required if you don't want to wipe. False. You're contradicting one of your earlier points here.
He was a level 23 and had no experience. You know what I watched him get? GJALLARHORN! It pissed me off.

What about all those poor souls out there who have put 500+ hours into this game..
Implying players who invest a greater amount of time deserve it more. This contradicts Xur selling it. When players can obtain the required coins in an hour, they don't deserve it; your logic. I'm almost certain none of the players who RNG'd this weapon would feel any animosity toward another player who RNG'd theirs, so your "snowflake" schtick is redundant. Having Xur hand out powerful exotics to players who invest a bare minimum effort is the reason these players are salty. In summary; you are a fool and your post is a joke.
-
If everything is easier Then nothing is a challenge Your argument is invalid
-
If everyone had a ghorn, no one would grind. Even if it's not the most usefull, it's the most hyped. No one would need to play bc they had the best weapon. Unless they add a new better rocket launcher (which won't happen bc ghorn is still very powerful) it won't be sold
-

Lol having over 760 hours logged in. Have 3 32's. Have run sword on all three Classes on hard. Still no drop, RNGesus is not on my side. Owell 3 HoC make up for it.
-
You do realize the loot cave was patched because it made pve to easy, and nerfed various glimmer farming exploit, bungie knows that people are playing to grind, and if the gally is what people want most, they will use that grind to keep people playing, Bungie doesn't want everything completely easy
-
He should sell Gjally, but he sure as hell better sell Thunderlord first. Once he's sold everything at least once, then he can sell whatever the fuck he wants.
-
Most likely not. Ghorn is like the most valued and coveted weapon in the game. It's like a trophy(that actually serves a physical purpose other Han to show off). If xur sold it that wouldn't be the case
-
Oh my God JUST STOP with these!
