SORRY FOR THE HUGE WALL OF TEXT. Don't read it if you don't want to. If you are smart and want to gain another point of view on the situation, feel free to read it all. I would hope that all guardians that want to trash talk read this beforehand. I want logical arguements, not stupid, meaningless name calling.
Before I start this, I would like to clarify that I have every exotic weapon in the game (INCLUDING GJALLARHORN) available on xbox. I have used every weapon and can say that icebreaker is my favorite.
I am sick of gjallarhorn elitists on here thinking that they are so much better than everyone else. They kick players out of groups and tease them about it. It really isn't funny or cool. For all of you special snowflakes out there who don't want other people to have what you have, get a grip.
Gjallarhorn isn't as OP as people say it is (for pve it's good but not godly, for pvp truth beats it by a longshot[better tracking+bigger blast radius]). Gjallarhorn only gets targets down really fast on a solar burn nightfall. Other than that, it really doesnt melt bosses as fast as people say it does. Truth is a very close second to gjallarhorn. Its tracking is much better and the damage is fairly close to gjallarhorn's. "Oh but Wolfpack rounds are sooooo goood!" Yes, they do a lot of damage. However, Truth or Hunger of Crota can pretty much do any job that the Gjallarhorn can (eliminate the target). Personally, I am fine with doing the strike for 2 minutes more if I'm not using gjally (it doesn't really make much more of a difference than that). If I don't have it on me in a strike, I'm not going to switch it onto my character with the app. It's not worth it. It's not necessary.
Gjallarhorn is situational as hell. You use it for bosses, and even then you can only use it when you have heavy. To get heavy, you have to get lucky and find it or spend 30 minites on a weekly heroic strike to get strange coins to buy heavy. People say that you can run a whole strike with Gjallarhorn. Sure it is possible, but what kind of moron would do that? It would be more challenging to deal with the reload and finding heavy than just doing the strike normally.

Now on to the common complaints about Xur selling Gjallarhorn.
1) "Everyone will have it so it won't be as awesome!"
You special snowflakes out there need to think about how childish you are acting. It is a gun in a videogame. Who cares if you have something? No one. Everyone bought this game and has the right to enjoy it. If this means getting gjallarhorn, then everyone has the right to have a fair chance at getting it.
2) "It's going to get nerfed!"
Come on guys, really? Bungie nerfs guns because of pvp, not pve! Gjally is good for pve, not pvp! Duh!! Vex mythoclast was nerfed because people were complaining about getting killed super fast by it. Soon enough, felwinter's lie and the last word will also be nerfed! When people complain, Bungie feels the need to interfere. So why doesn't Bungie nerf guns for pve? BECAUSE THE ENEMIES ARE FREAKING COMPUTER GENERATED! THEY DON'T COMPLAIN! Why is this so difficult to understand?? Therefore, Bungie doesn't feel the need to nerf guns for pve. Also, I don't hear any of us complaining that it is too op in pve. Hmmm I wonder why... oh yea, it is because people like it the way it is! Get it through your head; BUNGIE ONLY NERFS GUNS FOR PVP.
EDIT: People are mentioning the AR nerf. If you were keeping up to date on all of those articles, they nerfed ARs in pve and pvp only to make more people use pulse rifles. That's why they had all of those graphs. It was NOT because ARS were OP in pve. They never were. Imo hand cannons have always been superior in pve. Anyways, the point is that guns aren't nerfed in pve because they are OP.
3) "Xurners didn't earn their gjallarhorns!"
Again with this special snowflake bullshit.
Earn=work
Luck=luck, not work
People who buy guns from xur actually earn them, because they did work to get those strange coins. People who get lucky didn't earn it at all. THEY JUST GOT LUCKY! "But you have to do a raid to have that chance, so you are working." Not all the time! My friend asked if I could give him the gorgons cp. He was a level 23 and had no experience. You know what I watched him get? GJALLARHORN! It pissed me off and it would do the same to any of you. Xurners are earners, most of us, INCLUDING MYSELF, got lucky enough to get gjallarhorn. Also, what about all of those poor souls out there who have put 500+ hours into this game, AND STILL HAVE'NT GOTTEN GALLY?? Don't they deserve it? Everyone should have a chance to get it. I got lucky enough to get mine at 520 hours, but many people aren't as lucky. They deserve gjallarhorn. By the way, gjally isn't off Xur's loot table. He will sell it, and when he does, I will be there to congratulate all of my friends who bought (EARNED) it.
4) "It is going to break crucible!"
You guys obviously haven't experienced the might of truth. It is a force greater than gjallarhon (pvp). With its superior tracking (I have seen it wrap around walls) and it's huge blast radius (wipe out several enemies at once), gjallarhorn cannot compare. "But Wolfpack is so op!" Not in crucible. Many of them run into walls or the floor and don't hit the enemy. I have survived Wolfpack from gjallarhorn many times. Besides, they don't do nearly as much damage in pvp as they do in pve. The masses of people who do try it in crucible if xur sells it will be disappointed, and will switch out that exotic for something much more useful (truth, the last word, thorn, etc.).
5) "Everything will be so easy!"
Why is this even a complaint? Isn't it better to get things done faster? Nuff said there.
EDIT: Some people are saying that it would make crota too easy and that you like a challenge. All it does is help to ensure that crota goes down. Do you guys enjoy wiping or something? Is that your idea of a challenge? A world where crota doesn't always go down seems more annoying than challenging.

Also, for the next raid, who knows what will be a key weapon. For atheon cp, it was icebreaker (to all of those who say "but gally downs atheon is 17 seconds!" please be more realistic. You know you don't do this every time you fight atheon). For crota cp, it was gjallarhorn. For the next raid, who knows what will be good! I personally think that it will be thunderlord. Fallen tend to have arc shields, and everyone knows that one of the best arc weapons is thunderlord.
EDIT: A lot of people are saying that buying guns from xur isn't as exciting as getting it as a drop. If you are one of these people, then don't buy gjallarhorn from xur when he sells it! Buying guns is a CHOICE! If you prefer waiting to get lucky enough to get it as a drop instead of having a guaranteed way of getting it, go right ahead and do that. However, this is no reason to not want xur to sell it.
EDIT: People are saying that Xur isn't random so they are keeping him from selling ghorn. He definitely is. They randomized it before the game released and planned xur to sell those guns in the order they appeared after being randomized. After megaman figured out the plan, they had to randomize it again. Ghorn is still in his loot table and will be sold.
The gjallarhorny fools out there are just going through a phase. It will be over soon enough. Xur should and will sell Gjallarhorn eventually. Try not to cry too hard guardians.
TL;DR- Xur will and should sell Gjallarhorn. It is not OP in pve, it is beat out by truth in pvp, it will not be nerfed if it is sold by Xur, people who buy it from Xur will have earned it, and the special snowflakes out there need to get a grip.

They should just give it out cuz i have 2 and dont know what to do with them all.

I've played for 400+ hours completed quite a few raids and night falls and no gally. Not saying I should have one by now but 2 of my friends have them with less hours. One got one with 100 hours on a nightfall and the other has 3 all from nightfall. Gally drops are luck and earning at the same time but some are luckier than others getting Gallys 100 hours into a game. I'd rather get a gally off a drop but xur selling isn't the end of the world I've played with guys that have 1000+ hours who just got theirs. It's all luck. Xur selling it wouldn't be terrible just everyone who thinks they're special because they are lucky and got theirs before others will be butthurt because a rng vendor sold the gun they "earned".
-
Edited by HeyItsDUB: 5/12/2015 7:20:36 PMHes not going to and if he does then it won't be a ohhh dude look at my nightfall reward r u jelly bro. It will become a oh u got a ghorn good for u everyone has one. If he sells it again then im never using it again. I can understand selling it within the first month of game release b/c then every new player can get it.

G horn needs to be earned

Edited by PROTOTYPE BLITZ: 5/11/2015 11:08:28 PMBringing this back so idiots can see the truth #necro

Gjallarhorn + ruin wings + secondary with surplus = god mode at Confluxes in the vault of glass
-
Xur should sell the ghorn, what breaks this game is the forums. People crying about I'm getting killed by this weapon, it must be op, let's nerf it... wa wa wa.. If there was no forums for people to whine and complain all our weapons would be as great as the way you play the game. So hope he does sell it so this can be one less topic I can read about.
-
The G horn is not that good I've saw a guy using it I hate it it's not worth getting.
Down with G horn posts!
-
People should try to get all the exotics in the game not buy them
-
Wait a minute, not another gjallarhorn post
-
I don't know who the HELL YOU ARE to think Gjallarhorn is not overpowered in PVE, but you must live under a rock.
-
Well suros and ARs were definitely OP when the game first came out. I got my first Gjallarhorn the other day and while it would be sweet to be able to brag to my friends that I have it and they don't, it would be great if we could all use it. I see no problem with xur selling it.
-
Placed since week 3 of Destiny. Finally got one yesterday. Xur should sell, I want another for other char.
-
Edited by iLCMann: 4/16/2015 12:57:13 AMGjallarhorn should never be sold ever again by xur, it'll break the game. You say gjallarhorn is good but not godly? Sorry dude it's op as hell! The thing is if he does sell it (which he won't) but for arguments sake IF they did decide for him to sell it again it would get nerfed and very fast. Every person in the world would be taking down bosses with ease! And you know exactly what happens when xur sells at gun everyone wants? That's all you see in the crucible! And what happened with the suros? Best gun in the game, xur sells it, few months later it's the worst gun in the game. I do agree that people should be given a little bit more of a chance in a raid team if they don't have the gjallarhorn. I mean you could have played since day one, know the in's and out's of the whole game, be a seriously good player. But if the scrub that bought the game last week got a gjallarhorn as his first drop in the game and really has no clue what he's doing then most likely that team will choose him when it comes to a raid. Especially when it comes to crota! It's sad but true.
-
He already sold it, geez will you just shut up about it.
-
Edited by sekceh: 4/16/2015 11:16:57 AMA response to the first topic of your post: So do you not think it's dumb that someone has to grind for so long to get a weapon then Xur sells it and people just run along and buy it with strange coins? Plus, everyone already does have a fair chance of getting it.
-
Umm does no one remember xur already sold it once, or are all of the "elitist" lucky kindergaurdians? I have gally btw. Cheers
-
As soon as xur sells gjallarhorn people will start complaining that he needs to sell the mythoclast and the nechrocasm..... Bungie can't pander to everyone who doesn't want to go out and earn it..... And yes before you all jump me I know xur won't sell raid specific exotics.... You just underestimate the laziness of most people
-
I only play pve and gjallahorn is the strongest weapon by far. So yeah in my book it is a godly weapon however i dont discriminate other players for not having it.
-
In your argument you state everyone has the right to a fair chance to get gjallarhorn. The implications of the statement are obvious, however everyone already HAS the exact same chance to get gjallarhorn as anyone else. RNG, simply put you have no more a chance than I do, unless of course you put yourself into more situations that have a chance to drop it. We live in an "entitled" world where all these children feel they should be given everything, and right there explains the gjallarhorn dilemma. I've had 6 horns and dismantled 5 of them. I agree with you that it's not that great, and honestly I never use the one I still have because I don't need it. People just need to grind more, and if that's too much to ask they can probably hitch a ride outta here with the ppl saying they're leaving because of no raid in HOW
-
Edited by DarkShadow246475: 4/16/2015 10:17:01 AMI agree with you for most of it. But I have one query about Xûr... Xûr is randomised, and, as you said, everything will be sold. Gjallarhorn has already been sold. Also the random thing might be randomised but it may not be random. Think that every exotic weapon is on a spinning wheel. We might have No Land Beyond at 12.4%, Dragon's Breath at 9.7%...until we get to Gjallarhorn which may be at 0.8%. It is randomised, but it is not random because random is everything having equal chances of being chosen.
I am not hating. I am a proud owner of Gjallarhorn btw.
-
I'd rather him sell Thunderlord.
-
Xur did sell it before Dark Below. Should a bought it then rather than complain now. Also if everyone just bought gjallys no one would play anymore. There'd be nothing to work towards
-
I have 820 hours on the game and I have NEVER seen a gally drop in anything with me. If you raid with me you are garenteed to NOT get a gally. Sorry. But dragons breath and icebreakers are more common for me
-
Translation: hear ye hear ye, I have a Gjallarhorn
