SORRY FOR THE HUGE WALL OF TEXT. Don't read it if you don't want to. If you are smart and want to gain another point of view on the situation, feel free to read it all. I would hope that all guardians that want to trash talk read this beforehand. I want logical arguements, not stupid, meaningless name calling.
Before I start this, I would like to clarify that I have every exotic weapon in the game (INCLUDING GJALLARHORN) available on xbox. I have used every weapon and can say that icebreaker is my favorite.
I am sick of gjallarhorn elitists on here thinking that they are so much better than everyone else. They kick players out of groups and tease them about it. It really isn't funny or cool. For all of you special snowflakes out there who don't want other people to have what you have, get a grip.
Gjallarhorn isn't as OP as people say it is (for pve it's good but not godly, for pvp truth beats it by a longshot[better tracking+bigger blast radius]). Gjallarhorn only gets targets down really fast on a solar burn nightfall. Other than that, it really doesnt melt bosses as fast as people say it does. Truth is a very close second to gjallarhorn. Its tracking is much better and the damage is fairly close to gjallarhorn's. "Oh but Wolfpack rounds are sooooo goood!" Yes, they do a lot of damage. However, Truth or Hunger of Crota can pretty much do any job that the Gjallarhorn can (eliminate the target). Personally, I am fine with doing the strike for 2 minutes more if I'm not using gjally (it doesn't really make much more of a difference than that). If I don't have it on me in a strike, I'm not going to switch it onto my character with the app. It's not worth it. It's not necessary.
Gjallarhorn is situational as hell. You use it for bosses, and even then you can only use it when you have heavy. To get heavy, you have to get lucky and find it or spend 30 minites on a weekly heroic strike to get strange coins to buy heavy. People say that you can run a whole strike with Gjallarhorn. Sure it is possible, but what kind of moron would do that? It would be more challenging to deal with the reload and finding heavy than just doing the strike normally.

Now on to the common complaints about Xur selling Gjallarhorn.
1) "Everyone will have it so it won't be as awesome!"
You special snowflakes out there need to think about how childish you are acting. It is a gun in a videogame. Who cares if you have something? No one. Everyone bought this game and has the right to enjoy it. If this means getting gjallarhorn, then everyone has the right to have a fair chance at getting it.
2) "It's going to get nerfed!"
Come on guys, really? Bungie nerfs guns because of pvp, not pve! Gjally is good for pve, not pvp! Duh!! Vex mythoclast was nerfed because people were complaining about getting killed super fast by it. Soon enough, felwinter's lie and the last word will also be nerfed! When people complain, Bungie feels the need to interfere. So why doesn't Bungie nerf guns for pve? BECAUSE THE ENEMIES ARE FREAKING COMPUTER GENERATED! THEY DON'T COMPLAIN! Why is this so difficult to understand?? Therefore, Bungie doesn't feel the need to nerf guns for pve. Also, I don't hear any of us complaining that it is too op in pve. Hmmm I wonder why... oh yea, it is because people like it the way it is! Get it through your head; BUNGIE ONLY NERFS GUNS FOR PVP.
EDIT: People are mentioning the AR nerf. If you were keeping up to date on all of those articles, they nerfed ARs in pve and pvp only to make more people use pulse rifles. That's why they had all of those graphs. It was NOT because ARS were OP in pve. They never were. Imo hand cannons have always been superior in pve. Anyways, the point is that guns aren't nerfed in pve because they are OP.
3) "Xurners didn't earn their gjallarhorns!"
Again with this special snowflake bullshit.
Earn=work
Luck=luck, not work
People who buy guns from xur actually earn them, because they did work to get those strange coins. People who get lucky didn't earn it at all. THEY JUST GOT LUCKY! "But you have to do a raid to have that chance, so you are working." Not all the time! My friend asked if I could give him the gorgons cp. He was a level 23 and had no experience. You know what I watched him get? GJALLARHORN! It pissed me off and it would do the same to any of you. Xurners are earners, most of us, INCLUDING MYSELF, got lucky enough to get gjallarhorn. Also, what about all of those poor souls out there who have put 500+ hours into this game, AND STILL HAVE'NT GOTTEN GALLY?? Don't they deserve it? Everyone should have a chance to get it. I got lucky enough to get mine at 520 hours, but many people aren't as lucky. They deserve gjallarhorn. By the way, gjally isn't off Xur's loot table. He will sell it, and when he does, I will be there to congratulate all of my friends who bought (EARNED) it.
4) "It is going to break crucible!"
You guys obviously haven't experienced the might of truth. It is a force greater than gjallarhon (pvp). With its superior tracking (I have seen it wrap around walls) and it's huge blast radius (wipe out several enemies at once), gjallarhorn cannot compare. "But Wolfpack is so op!" Not in crucible. Many of them run into walls or the floor and don't hit the enemy. I have survived Wolfpack from gjallarhorn many times. Besides, they don't do nearly as much damage in pvp as they do in pve. The masses of people who do try it in crucible if xur sells it will be disappointed, and will switch out that exotic for something much more useful (truth, the last word, thorn, etc.).
5) "Everything will be so easy!"
Why is this even a complaint? Isn't it better to get things done faster? Nuff said there.
EDIT: Some people are saying that it would make crota too easy and that you like a challenge. All it does is help to ensure that crota goes down. Do you guys enjoy wiping or something? Is that your idea of a challenge? A world where crota doesn't always go down seems more annoying than challenging.

Also, for the next raid, who knows what will be a key weapon. For atheon cp, it was icebreaker (to all of those who say "but gally downs atheon is 17 seconds!" please be more realistic. You know you don't do this every time you fight atheon). For crota cp, it was gjallarhorn. For the next raid, who knows what will be good! I personally think that it will be thunderlord. Fallen tend to have arc shields, and everyone knows that one of the best arc weapons is thunderlord.
EDIT: A lot of people are saying that buying guns from xur isn't as exciting as getting it as a drop. If you are one of these people, then don't buy gjallarhorn from xur when he sells it! Buying guns is a CHOICE! If you prefer waiting to get lucky enough to get it as a drop instead of having a guaranteed way of getting it, go right ahead and do that. However, this is no reason to not want xur to sell it.
EDIT: People are saying that Xur isn't random so they are keeping him from selling ghorn. He definitely is. They randomized it before the game released and planned xur to sell those guns in the order they appeared after being randomized. After megaman figured out the plan, they had to randomize it again. Ghorn is still in his loot table and will be sold.
The gjallarhorny fools out there are just going through a phase. It will be over soon enough. Xur should and will sell Gjallarhorn eventually. Try not to cry too hard guardians.
TL;DR- Xur will and should sell Gjallarhorn. It is not OP in pve, it is beat out by truth in pvp, it will not be nerfed if it is sold by Xur, people who buy it from Xur will have earned it, and the special snowflakes out there need to get a grip.
-
I agree with you on most of your points but Gally does 2 times the damage over Truth or Hunger. Burns aside Hunger is better than Truth on bosses because of the extra damage however little it may be. Truth is better than Hunger in PVP because the blast radius reaches more Gaurdians. The calculated damage against bosses show 4000+ damage for both Truth and Hunger. Gjallarhorn does 8000+ damage against bosses after wolf pack rounds. It is twice as powerful as it's nearest competitor.
-
Oh shut up with the "xur sell gjallarhorn" posts already! He's never gonna sell it coz as soon as he does everyone will have that elusive carrot removed from being dangled before them and they will move onto other things! Get used to using something else or just grind for it. There's also another way to get it
git gud scrub
Why you should stop crying about this

Lol. I had a forum about the gjallahorn to ask wether or not it should be sold. (And I also put forward a proposal of how it could be sold if they ever did.) I had to close it down because I was mostly getting abused by "elitists". One even said some choice words about my mother. To these people I say get over it. its a game. These forums were once a place were we could debate with or help people on a topic. Now they can be places of horror for people who want a legitimate thought out discussion on a topic. I hope people have a good think about what they post in reply regardless of their opinion. "If you go overboard on something you are the only one who is going to drown."
-
I disagree whole heartdly, i never got the horn till a few months back, im pleased it took me since day 1 to get it Be patient and stop -blam!-ing about
-
No he should,if he sold it rubbish people would have it, everything would be too easy,so bungie would have to nurf it,which would make it just as worse as the Hunger Of Crota.thats coming from a person who doesn't have gjallarhorn
-
For starters yes it will definitely get nerfed if xur sells the launcher because everyone will want to use it. The gun is average as hell aside from oh joy fancy ass baller rounds but think about the ar nerf which nerfed auto rifles into utter uselessness to the point less then 5% of the Destiny community uses them? That's right bungie used the lazy excuse of oh "ar's were overused" never mind the fact they were never op in any way, shape, or form. I for one couldn't care less about the launcher because honestly I straight up hate the game despite having nearly everything but from a logical standpoint and getting a bad taste in my mouth from bungie's past actions to their community. You should rather ask for another exotic launcher to outdo the gjallarhorn or just avoid the elitist cock humpers.

Love this XD

Edited by ZetaScorpii: 7/7/2015 9:33:02 AMWhen I first went to heaven I thought it was great. I asked Jesus how I managed to make it and he said it was cause all the Mexican food I ate. This life I'm trying to make it by sticking with Italian, but all I'm getting is heartburn. Is that a sign that I'm going to hell?

If u get it by rng uve earned it. U took the patience to get it instead of simply buying it Getting coins is easy.

-
Yay! A guy who stands up to Ghorn elitists and punches their fragile little faces with these words
-
There's no equivalent, I can kill anything faster with Gjallarhorn then you can with any other weapon in your inventory, it is the most powerful weapon, why use something less??
-
Are you going to make another post like this when Hawkmoon comes to Xbox? I'm sure you will.
-
How about instead of taking all this time to write a story that nobody will read, you play the game. He should never sell it again, and he wont. If you can't earn one, it's your own fault. Try harder. They fixed the drop rate for everyone, so there is no excuse. I have 5, it's a skill based drop. GiT GuD. Xur is not going to give away the best gun in Destiny.
-
Xur shouldn't sell Ghorn Instead there should be an exotic quest or bounty you have to complete in order to get it Something like get 200 kills in the crucible Kill Atheon 5 kills Kill the Templar without him teleporting Kill 5 Gorgons
-
So what you're saying is that Xur should sell G-Horn because not everyone's RNG experience in the game is the best? Well, actually, who am I to say anything about RNG? I have currently two Vex Mythoclasts, three Thorns, a Jolder's I won from one maybe two IB's ago with a Felwinter's to boot, a Low-Grade Humility with Hidden Hand and Unflinching w/ AP Rounds (don't know how highly sought after this would be), a Fatebringer, and a G-Horn. I guess you could say that, for the most part, I got most of these through luck and I couldn't tell you for the most part what I did differently at the exact millisecond to get these to drop. While we're on the subject of RNG, I thought Xur was on a loot table of things he could possibly sell and some items are taken off his loot table for whatever reason Bungie feels it to be necessary. That's why he's never sold a Thorn, Lord of Wolves, etc. The fact that he could sell G-Horn is there, but I believe that since Xur did sell it once (Week 3 of Xur, if my memory is correct) and combined with the high probability that it may have been taken off of the loot table, we may not see G-Horn get sold ever, or at least, in while. I'm not saying that it won't ever happen, I'm saying that there's a high probability that it won't happen soon (and this is all based on whether my loot table theory holds ground). Personally, I have no problem with Xurning vs. Earning. Like you said, there's no clear-cut way anything drops for certain, the only factor that could possibly determine that is RNG (which is a pretty unreliable factor to begin with). The only guaranteed way to get Exotics is to buy whichever one Xur happens to sell, which is arguably more credible than getting it to drop, because you have to trudge out to do the Weekly *cough* Omnigul *cough*.. Once you get it or buy it, fine. The more the merrier, in theory at least. So that's my take on this whole ordeal. If you want to argue a point with me, fine. Just don't be unruly about it. I would like to say that I am in no regard correct on any subject mentioned above. For all I know, I could be spouting jargon everywhere unintentionally. If I am wrong, please point it out.

I have "The Fear" with tripod, warhead verniers, tracking and heavy payload. I'm fine with it.

Nope, didn't read.

Edited by Xunnn: 7/7/2015 8:15:06 AMGot my Gally after almost 1000 hours in this game, and have to say, it's an entirely situational weapon. I really only use it in PvE, and only then on certain bosses. Like OP said, Truth has it beat in PvP, and, in some cases, PvE. Has better tracking (I've literally scoped on someone, ducked behind a corner, shot, and the rocket turned the corner and took them out), G&H (which Gally does not have, despite what people say as I've seen it sail clear past enemies without triggering an explosion) and a better blast radius and velocity. Bring the hate, children.

No point because they are nerfing ghorn

Yes! Finally, someone says it to those Ghorn fanboys.

Edited by Paul Badman: 7/7/2015 7:11:16 AMWhat an intelligent person in the forum? Finally! Also I would like to say about it getting nerfed. So many people have it. It would've already gotten nerfed by now if they were gonna nerf it
