Okay, how about this idea?
I hear every day Guardians wanting to have their own identity when it comes to high level raid gear. Pretty much, if you want to be a 32, you've got to equip three or four pieces of raid or Iron Banner armor and an exotic. Or at least some combination thereof.
Well, we all know how shaders work to color our armor in different ways. What if we had armor holograms to make our outward appearance be whatever armor was in the hologram slot, but our light level and perks be based on whatever we are wearing?
Like the look of VoG armor, but want to be a 32? No problem. Hologram armor slot. Want to wear the Level 1 armor you were born in but be a 32? No problem. Hologram armor slot.
Just throwing out ideas to help us realize our own identity.
Edit #1: To those who are touting Transmog as the answer, I'm not sure I agree. Now, I was never a WoW player, but to my understanding, when you transmogrified a piece of armor, you basically fused the look of one piece into another piece for gold (glimmer). What you ended up with is one piece of armor that looked like one and acted like another.
That's not what I'm suggesting. What if today I want to wear my "Stormtrooper" look, but tomorrow I wanted to go with my CE gear straight up? If I transmogged my CE gear, I'm stuck with it.
My suggestion is to, for the lack of a better term, hologram the look I want over top of the armor I'm wearing. That way, I can change the look to whatever I want.
And, yes, I too believe that you'd physically have to own both pieces of gear to make it happen.
Thanks for feedback, Guardians.

I vote for vanity slots.
