When you select the Crota's End raid - no matter where you are in the solar system - you are instantly in the Moon's orbit on approach to the starting point for the raid. Technically, the only time that animation should appear is if you select Crota's End when you are already orbiting the Moon. If you are orbiting Earth, Mars, or Venus it should put you into hyperspace on your way to the Moon. I'm also OCD about upgrading exotics - have to upgrade them right away (unless they are duplicates that is).
