I think I figured out where much of the xur versus 'earning' anger comes from. Many of them probably start feeling mad when they begin to realize that they spent all of that time grinding excessively and others can get there just as easily by playing casually. These earners really just feel bad about their own choices because they now realize there is no elite status granted for doing it the way they chose to do it. It's always easier to misplace that anger onto others than admit they would probably do it differently if they had it to do over again. (Or just for trolling purposes like the OP here)
