Farming patterns, I have a theory about farming, and from what I see most people are sloppy about chest farming, but the way I do it I usually get 1 to 3 legendary engrams from chests every hour.

What's your chest farm? Mine is the part on earth where the walker spawns for Public Events.

I was also theorizing that there is a special chest that can have a chance to spawn. when you let things spawn consistently and often you increase the chance of that chest being a possibility.

There are a certain amount of things that can spawn in one given area. Let's say the number is 12, each of the 12 have a chance to spawn as either a chest or material. Basically the idea is to farm thoroughly, pick up every material and open every chest always, don't skip and run around like a ding ding because when you race back to an area on your sparrow you are interrupting spawn patterns. So make a farming plan and stick to it by running the same pattern every time and picking everything up and your chances of getting good items increases. Just a theory but it seems to work for me.

I haven't farmed since we were able to redeem marks for materials but during my 2,200 hours in game since launch I have always done this strategy while farming and I have maybe gotten one legendary from a chest. I think there is more reliable ways to get legendaries.
