Everybody I've talked to about this, be it on Twitter, or comments from my YouTube video above, all think I'm a n00b for the ammo change. In particular, they are telling me that if I'm too reliant on heavy or special ammunition, I don't know how to play the game, I'm breaking crucible... etc, etc.
To me, my Secret Handshake is as equally important as my SUROS Regime AND my Song of Ir Yut. I feel that two of my toys, which went through the same upgrading process as my primary, are getting the shaft.
Of course, I could be totally wrong and this change might not be as bad as I think.
So my question to you all: am I in the minority for NOT liking this change?

Shitty map designs are the main problem with shotguns.
-
I say let the shotgun style stay....though annoying as hell I respect those that do it well because I can't but it's really a minority percentage of how I die in matches.....and if kept at range usually easily win against a shotty....so lets not let them learn the great benefits of using a primary like Red Death, Thorn or TLW

I have barely had a problem running a shotgun in PVP. The trick is to actually use your primary too and move around the map. If you are good you will pick up special ammo as you go. If you are looking to just use a special weapon all match you are out of luck as that isn't really fun for all the people getting shotgun camped but I appreciate your honesty.

They should give up on balance. It will never happen and it's their fault. They wanted a unique PvP where you can wear your own personal armor and use your favorite weapon. That's all fine and dandy but don't ever expect balance to happen with that sort of gameplay. I don't play crucible anymore because it's unbalanced, laggy, uncompetitive, and unranked. Not to mention the lack of support for PvE causing drops in player population there as well. Any population numbers they give are most likely taken on Tuesday or Wednesday giving a false sense that people are even still playing this game more than once a week.

Oh man. You have my respect for asking this question so directly - not many people would be brave enough to do so. Personally, I'm not a fan of shotgun users (for a set of reasons that I think would be best left untouched right now), but I know that I also enjoy using my fusion rifle. As for the recent changes to the Crucible, I don't really see an issue with it. If you learn to ration your ammo, it really isn't bad at all. I can still run positive with my load out, it just takes a little more focus when it comes to using my fusion rifle. So, I think that maybe you were depending a little too much on your shotgun in the past, but if you can learn to adapt, then I see no problem. :) Good luck out there!

Scrub. It's called a "secondary" weapon for a reason. You shouldn't blink shotgun. You have no skill in your play style.

Edited by Un1337ninj4: 4/13/2015 10:09:34 PMI'm looking forward to it. I too own various Shotguns for various reasons, that said I myself view this in a very positive light based on the prospect of the titular impact of the weapon types themselves. Primary, sounds pretty self-explanatory. Special.... you get where I'm going. I understand where you're coming from with your concerns however. And I beg pardon? Song of Ir Yut won't be largely effected unless you don't plan on trying to counter-play Rockets.
-
Your shotgun is still gonna be around, you just have to control the rarer special ammo boxes by using your PRIMARY GUN.
-
I'm sorry that you have become accustomed to primarily using your secondary and relegating your primary to a secondary level of importance. Now you are going to primarily focus on using your secondary more secondarily, and secondarily, you are going to have to primarily turn your focus to primarily using your primary weapons more primarily.
-
Question is
is that your main weapon you use in it?
It's because people that take PvP too seriously are crying about being killed by a shotgun. I don't care what your KD is, if you're crying about a weapon then you're not any good.
-
yes and no both of it is good and bad but it will finally get rid of the annoying shotgun spammers
-
I love the details made available for this charge thus far.
-
Eh I dont like the change ither. But its not stoping my felwinter and universal remote.
-
Eh, maybe.
-
You can use the Invective, problem solved.
-
It will take a few games to get used to i reckon. Also if it's pick up and availability is like the heavy atm, the weekly update suggests this, then there will be those who just grab it for themselves and not wait. So it will interesting to see how it works out. I'm pretty confident it won't break the game Just take a bit to adjust for those that love them special feels...

What they are saying is that they are removing a lot of the cheese in crucible. Right now it is way to easy to just be like "well oi have a shotgun" when the shotgun should be an advantage. I bet that shotguns probably take up 40-50% of the kills in a typical crucible game. Which is weird because they are not supposed to be primaries. They typically invalidate gun battles to.
-
As long as you don't rely on one, you're fine
-
The downward spiral continues. This is being done because the crucible has always been a shotgunfest. This will help tone it down to a reasonable level. The downside to this is HCs will soon get treated like ARs. That'll leave red death and thorn dominant and they'll get "fixed". It really sucks, because I know they just want to balance PvP but it has come at the cost of PvE and will continue to do so until they segregate the two and keep their holy grail of "balance" in the crucible. Period. PvE isn't supposed to be "balanced", your supposed to bring your hardest hitting weapons and "send their souls screaming back to hell!!!" Why else would every enemy in ALL the end game activities be bullet a sponge?!
-
All the ammo change serves to do is strengthen guns like the thorn and red deaths hold on pvp.
-
The biggest problems are the small fvcking maps. I mean who cares if they nerf ammo on anomaly anyway? The gameplay on that map is going to suck either way when it comes to control. They need more maps like rusted lands and shores of time.
-
Reducing ammo drops will only increase the amount of people camping because primaries are not for close range. this will only make things worse. To counter a shotty you only need to back up while shooting. Its not as easy with getting a team of campers. So have fun Destiny with CoD 2.0.
-
Scrubs that can't kill one guy with a shotgun suck to me
IMO
-
I don't think snipers should be penalised for a shotgun/Fusion Rifle spam problem. If they'd have nerfed certain perk combinations on shotguns it would have solved the problem. I am glad there will be less people maining Felwinter's with blink though, 'cos that shit is straight up broken.
