Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?

That's not quite what I expected. I guess because he wants to financially run me into the ground and make a profit out of it? [spoiler]I looked it up; apparently the word "broker" is derived from the Old French "broceur", which means "small trader" or from the Old French "brocheor", which means "wine retailer".[/spoiler]
