“What a touching story...”
“Thank you. It was only the truth.”
A loud noise is audible in the background.
“I think we are running out of time. Do you have anything to add?”
“Yes, this is the most important part.”
“I would advise against taking too long, the barricade won’t hold them off much longer.”
“I see. I see. Thank you, Whisper... Thank you... Well, uhm... So... This is for you, Sky. I just wanted to let you know that... I am grateful for having met you. I always valued our conversations, even before I realized my feelings towards you. I know we never made it work afterwards and we were always more like friends, even though we felt the way we did. But I do not regret anything. Thank you for showing me a way out of the darkness. Without you, I would not have found a purpose in this strange new life. You gave me meaning. And I am happy that we were able to make a difference in the past months. I am sure that you will be able to continue the fight and help bringing the light back to everyone, but unfortunately I won’t be around to see it.”
The screams of several hive thralls pierce through the silence.

“They shot me down over Mare Imbrium... Funny, the first time we met it was raining, do you remember? … Well... The ship is busted, Whisper can’t transport me back there. I lost my rifle when I was making an escape through several caves that seemd like they have been made a breeding ground for the hive. I managed to hold them off long enough, being a Titan and all, to barricade myself in an old structure that seems to be a remnant of the golden age. I think they have not pinpointed my exact location yet but... I won’t be able to hold them off. There is no chance of escaping... Not this time... But please don’t think I regret coming here. You were right. We have to make a difference. And I am so thankful for all the chances I got to make a better future. The only regret that I have is not saying goodbye to you when I left this morning. I wish I had seen you one last time. I am sure, if we had lived in a different world, we could have made things work. But this is the world that we live in now. And I hope you will be able to protect it and make it better. I hope this message finds you safe. When you listen to this, I will be gone. But don’t cry. I could not have wished for a better, second life. Whisper will have the access codes to my apartment. You are welcome to anything you might want. If you ever find somebody else who is like we used to be... Please help them... We can not lose this war.”
“Thank you. Good-bye.”
The sound of scratching is audible in the background.
“Is that all?”
“Yes, thank you for your patience. I will help you to get out of here. Please deliver this message to her, I beg you.”
“I will, please do not worry about that. Thank you for your companionship. It was always fun to travel with you, my friend. I will never forget you.”
“I sure hope so, for all the times I kicked your butt, you are a lousy hacker... my friend.”
“I do not know if this is the time to make jokes.”
“You know, I still have to get you out of here and I would rather do it while not sobbing and snotting all over the place.... So here’s the plan. I open the door, I will create havoc, kill a few of them and you escape. Got it?”
The sound of hive screams almost drowns out the recorded voices.
“Yes. I got it. Good-bye. May you rest in peace.”
“Good-bye... I hope you make it out safely. Ready? On three. One, two, three.”
After the door is opened, only the screams of thralls are audible, then an explosion. The video becomes dark and the screams slowly go silent. The recording ends.

For me, I could only describe this writing in two ways, chilling and touching. It was obviously not a true love story, but the bond between the characters was very obvious. I really liked how the reader didn't know why it was a recording until the end, and the ending sent a shiver down my spine. Needless to say, I would love to see more and great work!
