So by your judgement, I earned mine by sitting idle in a crucible game. 0-24 was my final score. And I was awarded with HoTPF. Yea..... That's definitely earning my gear.

Exotic armor, exotic weapons, stop splitting hairs and look at the point. In an RNG based loot system there is no earning. It doesn't matter if it was a piece of armor or a weapon that was GIVEN to you by a lucky draw, that's not earning in any way shape or form. And if you believe it is then your ignorance is the problem here.
