Never forget the Xurned HOTPF
If someone in your fire team has a 139 descipline HOTPF it was Xurned. Also be weary when Xur sells upgrades with higher discipline on HOTPF as these dirty Xurners may try to hide what they are. I will edit whenever Xur sells the upgrade so you will all know who is a dirty Xurner and who [b]earned[/b] there HOTPF.

Wow… These posts about people earning or not earning items is really ridiculous. The way I see it, there’s a lot of gray area concerning whether someone has “earned” something or not. Just because someone makes a purchase from Xur is not an indicator that they did not “earn” the item. Example: Player A goes through a nightfall being carried by other players and is rewarded an exotic item at the end of the strike. Player B goes through a nightfall, carries the team through, doesn’t die, has the most kills, and is only rewarded 9 strange coins. That player then takes those coins with others he has, and purchases the same exotic item from Xur that Player A has. Would you still say that Player A “earned” his and Player B didn’t? I think players do “earn” special coins, whether it’s by doing a nightfall, hard level weekly heroic, daily public event, etc. When they then take those coins to make purchases, that “earn” is transferred to the item they purchase. It’s no different than working hard in real life to make money to buy to car, and then saying you’ve “earned” that car. I feel the same applies to players who do multiple strikes waiting for a lucky reward/drop. If you’ve endured hundreds of strikes, grinding it out, and spending an excess amount of time towards that goal, then when that lucky drop or reward final comes, you’ve “earned” it through the efforts and time you put in. I think anyone who complains about someone not “earning” an item is just upset at seeing someone else achieve something in a manner that they feel was a lot easier than them to achieve. I don’t have a Ghorn and I really want one. I will grind out strikes and weeklies over and over and hope that at some point, whether it’s my 50th strike or my 150th, that maybe, finally at some point, it will drop for me as a reward. Do I begrudge the player who got it week 2 from Xur? Or the poorly skilled PVP player who received it as a reward at the end of a match? No… Good for them! I’m happy someone got it, and I will continue my grind towards it.

Ok, here's a question: I bought a chest engram, and got it. So, is that Xurned or earned? While I have never had the chance to do this, people who offer a chest to other players (which I think is pretty cool), the person who opens the chest, did they earn it? So, say someone 'earned' their's in your opinion before the DLC (not sure if it was available or not, but go with me here), they upgrade it, which changes the specs, did they Xurn it or earn it? By the way, THERE IS NO EARNING OF GEAR IN THIS GAME. You EARN merits from doing activities. You EARN coins from doing weeklies, activities where it is in the loot table, or turning in a blue or purple (yes, been that screwed) that turns into a coin. Opening a chest is not earning. Being present when a boss in a raid is killed is not earning. Anyone else at that point, or anyone else that gets the same number from the RNG will get the exact same drop. Get off your high horse.

I RNG'd a HoTPF in a nightfall a few weeks back, but it only had 137 DIS :(

hahaha, mine is from October, I upgraded with Xur the first time he brought it, and it was with 139 discipline, but I rather to use the claws of Ahamkara, looks better and works fine in almost everything

Meh, after over a month of play time, 3 32s of each class, grinding out 2850 Grimoire, having all exotic weapons, having all raid armor and weapons, having all cheevos in the game (including flawless) and nearly every exotic armor piece in the game (missing two), I think I deserve anything that Xûr owns that I don't yet own. Got one from an exotic engram recently that has 167 discipline. All of this means absolutely nothing. Because all of them, at the differing levels, were the same piece of gear. Nobody gives a shit about where you get something. Nobody sane at least. If I know anyone purposely not get stuff from Xur, and they can't work as well in differing situations as a result, I will call them an idiot. Neither Xur nor Nightfalls/raids change whether something is earned or not. Neither is truly earned. All you earn is the chance at an exotic. You get coins? Cool. Now just hope Xur will have something good. You did the raid? Cool. Now just hope you get a good drop. Both are the same. Now shut up with this shit already. And yes, I saw the bait tag. Still felt like ranting, as a lot of people actually feel that way.
