So I recently did a study with my friend, well not really a study, that's just what I call my little exploit. The loot system seems to reward players a hell of a lot more often if these 4 conditions are in place
1- someone has to get no kills or assist and can't die or revive
2- the team can't wipe
3- alternate between who is AFK.
3- most importantly, as the no killing AFK guy, don't let your shields break from damage.
Now most of the time we did this someone got a legendary ship, engram, or exotic. This confirmed my suspensions that when you are inactive, you have a much higher chance of getting a legendary or having the pleasure of seeing someone else have one.
Now this is all based around 2 people messing around in strikes, trying to 'crack the code'. I took the risk of being reported. I even made a few others mad as well, and rightfully so. I was just seemingly being a dick, I was following them around but not shooting, not even reviving, and all for one legendary I don't even need. I'm done doing this, and I recommended that others don't try following in my steps. This needs attention, it needs to be fixed.

It's all RNG. No factors can influence the drop rate of certain items, aside from cases like the crux.
