Better watch it, they might get too popular then they'll be nerfed too lol. #BungieLogic

Same here. Used to use handcannons and scouts in PvE. The long range accuracy and morr importantly the impossible to land follow up made me use scouts exclusively. I now only use handcannons in the cruscible sent my suros/vanquisher to a much too early retirement.
-
Yeah it's sad because SUROS is my favorite weapon and now it feels like I'm shooting paper bullets. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but it seemed like hand cannons were more popular than autos beforehand anyway. Also, while using my SUROS I still felt like handcannons were destroying me in pvp before anyways. Maybe it was just me, but I was surprised that autos got a dmg nerf but handcannons didn't. Because I saw way more nerf hawkmoon and thorn threads I saw nerf autos/SUROS threads.
-
Bungie gave us an iron banner bounty "get 20 headshots with auto rifles" then nerfed autos because "too many people were using autos"
-
Yeah, they probably didn't think that one all the way through. Lol
-
Well yes and no. In total auto rifles were more popular. But that was mostly due to the gallahad e being very good for low level players. The only really good handcannon's are the exotics. Which is either a pain in the ass bounty. 23 strange coins some time ago or a very small rng chance. I don't think auto rifles needed any nerf to be honest. They were weak in pve before the patch (least damage in mag) and in the right hands exotic handcannon's outclassed them. Now the suros was pretty good. Being very reliable at all ranges. So some damage fall off would be nice. Not a 14-16% damage reduction at all ranges
-
Yeah I agree with you. The range nerf was understandable, but they definitely should have left the damage the same. In pve, I actually thought that some autos needed a buff even before the 1.1.1 patch. If they kept the range where it is now, and put the dmg back to where it was I think all the weapon classes would be pretty well "balanced" now.
-
Yes. And possibly increase the crit multplier back to 1.5(from 1.25) in PvE only. Which was putted in place a long time ago.
-
That would be really nice. I think that increased crit multiplier would compensate for the decreased range
-
And would reward a more skilled thumb. Like it does on scouts/handcannons
-
Agreed!
