What if the Vault of Glass isn't a real place? What if it's all just a simulation? I know this is an extraordinary claim, so naturally I require extraordinary evidence. Since this is just a small theory, I have little, but will give what I have.
We know the Vex can indoctrinate people into simulations, forcing them into a world of eternal torment and creating identical copies of the victims. The Vault also contains unknown power, seemingly impossible to even comprehend, let alone put into practice. This power can not be manifested outside of it, so we know the Vault has to have some sort of mystical power around it, or does it not exist altogether? Gorgons can bend the fabric of reality at their will, deciding what "is and is not real". Anything they perceive becomes "subject to erasure". However, Gorgons aren't the only entities with reality-bending capabilities. The Templar, Oracles, and Atheon all possess it as well.
Going back to what I said earlier about "creating identical copies of the victims", I believe this is put into practice inside of the Vault. Kabr sacrificed himself in the Vault in order to create the Relic, which is the weapon vital to defeating essentially every boss in the Vault (this could be interpreted as Kabr creating a "glitch" in the Vex's simulation). Now this in itself isn't ground-breaking news, but what comes next just may be. His final words were, "If I speak again, I am not Kabr." This is a peculiar sentence, and oddly placed. This inclines me to theorize that the Vault of Glass is not as real as it seems. It appears to me that once that Spire is built, everything afterwards is just a simulation.
Obviously, this theory isn't perfect. It has its fair share of holes and fallacies, but I implore you, just take it into consideration the next time you step foot into the Vault of Glass. You never know what you may notice.

It's a vault of glass not vault of booty and riches

More power to you for making sh!t up

Here is my theory about the teleorts during the atheon fight. I think of the lush green area as bungie's past. It was thriving with life and their community flourished and nourished themselves on their products. The sandy barren area is bungie's future since the release of Destiny. Barren, dead, and forgotten. There is still time for them to have a course correction, but HoW has to be -blam!-ing amazing for that to happen.
-
Yes this is probably true and about the weapons only existing in the vault the vex are trying to make sure that you stay identical to the simulation so they teleport a real version of the gun to your inventory
-
the vision of confluence, confluence is the merging of two things, such as reality, and simulation, and vision is sight, so seeing the merging of our world and simulation. The description reads what you have seen will mark you forever, it all adds up
-
This is a good idea. Atheons powers are limited to the Vault of Glass. The Black Heart was supposed to be much more powerful than the vault or anything else. I'm more curious about the Black Heart lol.
-
You might try using some descriptions from the gear and guns and such. Honestly cant remember any of them directly, havent played in forever. But I feel like they all had those vague, paradoxical descriptions that are... Vex-y or whatever.

It's not 4/20 just yet Bro.

Part of me doesn't think that Destiny will have nearly as much detail into the universe as Halo did. I mean EVERYTHING was already thought of in combat evolved. But i just don't see much mystery to the first Destiny game. Apart from the vex

Nice theory

Love it! I'm a huge fan of all the theories and what not surrounding the vault and this was unique :) well done.
-
It's like the impossible test from Star Trek. It was ultimately defeated by Kirk when he reprogrammed the simulation. Kirk=Kabr. Reprogram=create relic. Mind blown.
-
It's not a simulation, you can't enter a simulation. The issue was how could you prove you weren't a simulation. It's a pocket universe that they created that you enter. This is why they have so much power.
-
I guess it'd make sense considering we go into crota's dimension. What if all the raids to come are alternate dimensions. Then it'd get interesting
-
What if this isn't a real post and you are an imaginary elf with huge green ears and yellow teeth.
-
I believe the Vault is an alternate dimension of time which the Vex control, correct me if I'm wrong. The Aegis is the only reason we aren't easily eliminated by the Vex (as they are infinitely powerful in the Vault) because it binds us to reality.
-
If VOG was a simulation then we wouldn't be able to take guns and gear out. Fatebringer and the mythoclast for example would only exist in the vault. Now the entire game being a simulation is somthing worth discussion. Endless repetition, weekly reset, same missions, same goals. All with slightly different modifiers to test us. Makes u think
We know the Vex can indoctrinate people into simulations, forcing them into a world of eternal torment and creating identical copies of the victims.
..what? Im sorry but i think you are confusing The Matrix with this video game. There is no grimor that mention such thing...
-
There is one idea in the grimoire that the darkness is a post singularity (universe ending) being that is toying with humanity so it could be true
