Look, if you don't enjoy Destiny, then just stop playing it, okay?
..but after receiving Killzone 4 in the mail from GameFly today, I now appreciate what we have.
Let me start by saying I was always a fan of the Killzone series, and even the 4th installment captured me in the opening scenes with beautiful graphics and seemingly exciting story.. and then it gave me control of the game.
Talk about a clunky, confusing, and unenjoyable FPS. I made it 1 single bronze trophy into the game before removing the disc from my PS4. Now I knew going into a Killzone game that it wasn't going to feel quite as 'snappy' as something like Destiny, but I was not prepared for how it really felt after so much time behind the sticks playing Destiny almost exclusively. Killzone felt like I was trying to steer a tortoise of a soldier, getting shot at endlessly through thick layers of fog where you could not see your enemies, all while being asked to activate far too many different d-pad/touchpad options for boosts in battle (although I will give devs credit for a game that actually makes PROPER use of the touchpad) that without you were severely crippled. This is all without mentioning the extremely difficult to navigate story that gave almost no sense of linearity, and still less than an hour in had me wandering lost into areas where I clearly should not have been.
It was truly a sad evening with Killzone 4 for me, as a fan of the previous titles. So back to Destiny I go, where I do enjoy almost everything about the game despite its shortcomings in lack of PvE content, and laundry list of improvements that we would all love to see. Simply put though, we do have ourselves a pretty clean FPS in Destiny, in many, many ways.
