Thorn bounty... third time lucky
I have had the thorn bounty at least twice before, and got frustrated doing the void kill pvp bit and deleted it both times. I have done every other exotic bounty at least once, so since i got WoC i decided if i got thorn bounty again i would have another go at it.
Got it today. Got it to the pvp bit, played maybe 6 rounds of clash so far... 60 points out of 500. (EDIT: ok just checked im at 47/500... i was up in the 60s but i had a few stinking rounds at the end... dragged me back down.)
I hate this bounty. But i will do it.
Playing as striker titan with
- Word of Crota
- sword breaker / void longbow synthesis sniper
- truth
Any thorn bounty stories or words of wisdom to share?
2nd EDIT :: Thanks to everyone for all your advice, i have read it all and will continue to read all replies before i next get online and try to further this bounty.
Plenty to think about... switch back to defender... snipe, fusion... control... magnetic grenades.. etc
Youre a good community of helpful guys and girls, dont let anyone tell us otherwise. No one had anything to gain by offering me advice here but loads of people have, so cheers.
UPDATE EDIT:: I had another go this morning using a lot of the wisdom from guardians below and it is going better, up to 368 points now, going well.
FINAL EDIT: I got it done! Now just xyor to kill. its late here now so im leaving that bit to another day. Feels good to finally beat that dam pvp bit though. Thanks again to all for the advice it was very useful.

have completed the bounty twice so far (warlock and Titans are much easier because of their void abilities) 1. equip weapons of void that you are familiar with 2. play only on maps familiar to you! 3. control game maids seems very easy 4. forget the zones ( on control) provide support 5. stay with teammates (no solo) 6. kneel often, your radar is your best ally 7. get any kills 8. have fun 9. forget about the bounty !

Hide a lot, use your void fusion rifle or void shotgun. Be patient and choose your battles. 10 kills 1 death is way better than 21 kills 17 deaths.

I completed the PvP part about 4 months ago, done it in a couple of hours with a rare void fusion damarung 5 I think. After that the bounty just lay there till I built up a decent arsenal or arc weapons and a couple of good clanmates.

Solution good sir: Swordbreaker (or any shotgun with void.) + every PvP map = Thorn I also used corrective measure, atheons epilogue and voidwalker so I was imcapable of not doing void damage (but I mainly stuck to shotgun). If your a titan use defender and those sticky grenades. Should only take a few hours.

Use defender as you get void grenades and your punch is void. Also I did mine on control as I found that easier.

2 RepliesI used a more conservative strategy, instead of a shotgun use praedryths revenge. Its a very good sniper and easy to use. Stay back and camp. If people get close use word of crota and try to get heavy ammo every time. You should be good

Definetly use swordbreaker atheons epilogue or corrective measure or truth cant go wrong if you just pkay a little bit stamd offish! It toom me 10 games playing this style! And i usually get hammered in crucible

Just used praedyth revenge swordbreaker and word of crota and truth

1 ReplyEdited by jay p: 4/4/2015 9:45:59 PMThe two best pieces of advice I could suggest is: 1) die less. This means playing much more conservatively. 2) make each and every heavy ammo drop. Even if it means idling for a minute by the crate. Thats your time to really make points.

Run defender titan with magnetic grenades Armanatarium for an extra void grenade Armor of light for the ward of dawn I used my felwinters lie shotgun (void) Heavy: against all odds (void) or truth Run a high intellect and disapline build When I did this I had a blast I was done in about 4-5 games

5 RepliesSwitch to defender, their grenades are void, use Armentarium, spec your discipline. The melee might also be void, not sure about that though. I did it as a striker, That's more fun ;-)

Don't play control. Too easy to die/get spawn trapped etc. Play defender, magnetic grenade and melee is also void damage.

I rolled with: Defender Titan- Magnetic Grenade (most of the time it is a guaranteed kill), The Armamentarium (for when one sticky grenade doesn't cut it), Universal Remote (only used it twice), Bronzed Chasma Esc. (It's the Felwinter's Lie for those that don't have Felwinter's Lie!), and Corrective Measure (You though't I'd put something in parentheses here didn't you? Well, I fooled ya!) EDIT: I also played the Clash gamemode.
