Because people are too lazy to try to understand the mechanics of offensive/defense levels. They think, higher level is always better. While defensively you get a [i][b]slight[/b][/i] advantage, offensively, your 331 weapon is doing the same amount of damage as your 300 weapon.

  • That is subjective from watching this video. He needs to be using the exact same gun in order to have objective results. There are other factors involved in damage output as well. I disagree with the video OP's results, but like I said in my post below, I have learned of the static rarity modifier that seems to indeed increase the damage output of a 331 weapon compared to the same 300 weapon on the same level 30 enemy.

    331 weapons have about a 15% attack advantage over weapons of 300 attack with the same impact.

  • The problem with this video is that the OP is not comparing the same gun at different attack values. While those two weapons have the same impact rating, the range rating is not the same. Another NITC has a higher range rating than the VoC, so the VoC will experience damage fall-off against enemies. So his results are skewed. That being said, I did a little more research on the topic, and to my understanding, all weapons have a static "rarity modifier".     The range demonstrated was WELL within the max range of both weapons. All scout rifles ranges are excellent (which is why I use them 90% of the time). The only time I have ever experienced range fall off is killing enemies across the bridge in crotas end, and the fall off is minimal. He could have easily tested this at 3x the range and gotten the exact same results. If he was testing auto rifles, yes then range would be much more of a factor. The Fang of Ir Yut and Vision of confluence have the exact same impact & range is only slightly better on the fang and I can confirm that Vision does 890 on a crit while the Fang will do 1019. This was tested at point blank range.

  • Again, not the same weapon, results will be skewed. Not trying to start an argument here. I'm not disagreeing with 331 weapons doing more damage to level 30 enemies when compared to the same 300 weapon. I'm saying that video OP's results are debatable, and not scientific.

    I know you are not trying to start an argument, its always interesting to have the debate. Range does VERY little for scout rifles as they suffer very little drop off anyway. I took the effort to find this for you (its dead at work today). Vision of confluence does 890 on a crit at 300 Damage. Here is a video of someone using the Fang of Ir Yut at 300 doing 890 on a crit at pretty much all but the most extreme ranges. 1019 for a crit when maxed out. 14.09% increase for weapons of the same type with the same impact. Scouts have very little range drop off, all tefty's vids are accurate and he was using the weapons at optimal range. Fang's Crit at 300 (base): 890 Fangs Crit at 331: 1019 Vision at 248 (base): 679 Visions crit at 300: 890
