Why 31+ for VOG?

Just as it says why? Do people not remember beating this thing with 29s? Do people not understand a 30 does the same damage as a 32? In VOG And before you look, i have 3 32s i just laugh at people not letting 30s or even 29s into vog hard.... Get good. Edit: Okay right on. Glad most everyone agrees i just wasnt understanding the reasons Edit 2: forgot to say yes first thing i mainly look at is whose got vog weapons. Then i ask if they have done it before lol. Edit 3: if you ever need help with VOG or Crota. Or nightfalls add me Devohagen Edit 4: so many replies. Wow. Thanks. Ive only argued a few replies so far lol. Edit 5: 800 comments and trending! Seems to be people still unaware no extra damage by 32s in VOG is real. Thats too bad. I beat it today with 30s in the group in two portals... Edit 6: all im saying is people kicking out the 29s 30s are the real scrubs and n00bs. The only people i struggle to play with are squeakers Edit 7: if you think a 32 does more weapon damage then a 30 in vog you're a n00b and please just dont comment. Also wow 1000 replies.

Sorry devohagen but, you're wrong. If you're at or below level 31 it means you're the noob that everyone avoids, you're the one that gets kicked because you're that one level lower. Why does one level mean so much? The answer is simple, that one level means you've completed multiple raids and challenges and makes your rep with your surrounding guardians that much better. Even if you're a bad player, that one level puts you above scrub average and that's all that matters. This is why nearly every skilled group asks for 32's only, not because you do that 2% extra dmg but because it's means you're not a total idiot when it comes to raids like the majority of this community. It means you've completed your fair share and you don't complain and whine that crota or vog is too hard. If you ever see a group asking for 32's only or must have a gjallarhorn ect ect.. , you better pray they let you in because those are the groups that gets shit done fast. They don't -blam!- around like the rest of these high daisy mother-blam!-ers do. This goes 2 ways however, you better meet those req before you try and join them, because they're not going to carry your sorry ass through a raid. Make sure you have that gjallarhorn or that ice breaker and be the req level, otherwise you're just wasting your time and theirs. YOU WILL GET KICKED! It takes a week at most to get to 31 and 4 times that to get to 32. Which one would you rather? simples Tl;DR Don't be a scrub, no noobs are ever welcomed.

    • The elitist mentality of some Guardians is truly sad. "Won't take a 29 through", give me a break. I ran VoG normal last night and took a 27 and 29 through for their first raid. Sure, it took some time, but they stuck with it and we took care of Atheon. Turning someone away just because they're not 30+ or because they don't have a Gally, that's pretty lame to me. My first raid was Crota's End normal as a level 28, the rest of the group was patient and helped me out. That's what the Destiny community is about, helping others, not turning people away.

    • well 29s are like 32s in crota hard mode. you hurt them less and they hurt you more. Not saying it's impossible for 29s but its easier if your 30+.

    • I was in a raid group the other day who kicked 3 lvl 30's from vog. Needless to say i left that group and went with the 30's, who did have other 32's. I also told off the guy who kicked the 30's who apparently never even knew that it was once an honour to have a level 30 in your raid group... He thought you could always become level 32... Scrub.

    • Better armor = more defense = less chance of dying Better armor = more light = more damage from abilities

      • Ok, people lower than level 31 at this point just don't play the game much and shouldn't be doing hard mode content. I take off my crota gear in vog and put on better vog or vendor gear with better perks and drop to 31, because it doesn't matter and faster handcannon reload and the vog helmet is better than my crota helmet and my vog chest piece has better perks than my ce chest piece. A 30 at this point is someone who hasn't leveled up their gear and if you haven't done that you probably haven't leveled up your guns and you don't need to be doing hard mode.

      • Because the ONLY reason I do vault is to carry my noob friend so he can get exotics. He barely knows what the f he's doing!!! I can't have multiple dead people every round! Having a higher level makes up for skill, and what's the chance you're going to find a lvl30 with skill anyways? people who have played VOG back in the glory days are 32 now, or quit and have their 30 VOG armor. There's no reason for me to break my very spine carrying multiple people. One is enough, and having two people without oracle disruptor weapons makes killing Atheon way harder than it needs to be.

        • The thing I like is when you ask for a 32 swordbearer and get random 30s and 31s that can't swordbearer wanting invites. Seriously 32 means 32. Yes I know I dont have a 32 character yet, need mats, gear, blah blah, that's why I was looking for a 32 so the 32 in my group that never swordbeared before didn't have to keep screwing up. He pulled some magic out his ass and rocked it in two swords finally.

        • I take 27's into the raid with me, I love my noobs and helping out some less fortunate gamers who weren't blessed with RNG luck get a boost with shards and gear, beside I have fun running VOG, brings me back to the good old beginning days.

          • You do the same amount of damage as a 30 if you're a 31+ but you take less damage so therefore it makes it harder for you to die. With that being said, 27-29s can do VoG on hard but they just have to be alot more conservative about taking damage, therefore it takes more skill to complete and be an asset to the team. Imo neither the VoG or Crota are hard at all, you just have to know what to do and have decent weapons. Tldr: People need to relax when it comes to light levels.

          • Maybe because nearly every 31 and below are complete a utter scrubs who buy their gear in a couple days of play time? Only reason people ask for 32's is mainly so we know they have at least "some" experience in raids. Too many bad players in this game, too many casuals and too many scrubs.

              • Although this is very true most players have the instinct as me "A level 32 is more trusted or reliable than a level 30 since they have been playing the game enough to kill crota multiple times a week so they must have more experience than that who's only level 30" Although I bring this into effect this also is not true since it may be a new character so mainly I tend to look at what weapons they have, their grimiore, and what weapon type (auto rifle, scout rifle, etc)

I will do it with pretty much anyone but it's not hard to figure out why people ask for 32s... It's the level cap and it's as simple as that. It's not the level that matters just people want other people at the level cap or close to it. Usually means more experience... Usually

              • I kind of find it funny that i seen some people on here on the forms say being 30+ doesn't make a difference in vog (which is true) but some of those same people say something like "i can't wait for 36 to be the new light level, crota's end on hard is going to be as easy as normal." *facepalm*

                • At 32 it takes substantially more to kill you. However, it shouldn't be necessary. Sadly it is. I see a lot of players, some 32s, struggle with parts of VOG. sigh.
