Is NAT1 possible if the PS4 is in a DMZ?

I am running on a 10MB ADSL connection via a Netgear DGNDv3700 router and have my PS4 with a static IP in a DMZ and get NAT2 in this configuration. I always thought that having a device in a DMZ should give me unfiltered traffic and as such it should be possible to achieve NAT1. Is this possible in such a configuration or shouldn’t I worry about it (i.e. is there a significant difference between NAT1 / NAT2 when it comes to latency/matchmaking etc)? Another question: Why is it that even with NAT2 at times it is impossible to have voice and Destiny shows “Voice not available due to NAT issues”. What does this mean - especially since my PS4 shows NAT2.

  • Nat type 2 is the best you'll get with a router but it depends on what brand and the restrictions the router has, you'll need to open up the ports and have a mess around with what you can as in messing with dmz. UPNP ect. I had the same problems with a nat type 2 getting voice restrictions ect, took a bit of researching but opening up the ports properly fixed the problem.
