I holding the puppy and can hardly speak. It's so hard to say goodbye.
"Lewis is going to love having a buddy."
It's then that the tears hit and between a muffled cry I manage to say.
"Thank you Freddy."

"Goodbye Freddy." I walk away and throw one last look over my shoulder. Tears stream down my face.

I take the mask and a deep breath. "Thank you, until we meet again." Then I turn and walk away.
