I always had the impression, the classes are not well balanced and therefore I went to destinytracker.com and did some research.
I evaluated several Top-100 rank lists (score, K/D etc.) on their site across all platforms and statistically counted the occuring classes.
This is the result as a distribution of classes among the Top 100 lists:
63% - Hunters
23% - Titans
14% - Warlocks
This leaves two conclusions:
1. Good players play Hunters.
2. Hunters are the most powerful class concerning the Crucible.
Personally I doubt 1, at least in with this numbers. Hunters are the most played class, but the distribution in pure played classes is somehow like 38:31:31 (H:T:W).
How would you interpret these numbers?
edit: It's typical for these forums, how you get attacked and flamed if you open hypothesis like this.
Don't get me wrong, kids, I'm not calling for a nerf or anything. I just want to discuss the numbers.
And I expect Bungie to do a decent retrospective in the classes balance!
edit2: It's interesting to see, how nobody seems to care about this thread but the the Hunter fanboys, who solely come in to cry and tell me to stop crying and to stop to critic their beloved Hunter.
This community is really immature and childish.
edit3: A lot of people start to argue with class skills or player skills, but can we please reduce to the numbers I posted and you can try explaining them?
-
There is nothing more getting blade danced in crucible
-
Nice research.
-
3. More people use hunters causing it to go higher
-
You say you're not crying for nerf then say you expect bungee to do something about the hunter class... Stay out of the crucible if you're bad enough to hide your stats making a post like this..
-
After reading the title I was ready to make a post asking for actual proof. The distribution you showed sure shut me up.
-
Tl; dr #nobodycares
-
Oh wow captain statistician here knows all from the numbers. So since we're made up of 78% water, then we must be an aquatic life form. Oh man I guess stats don't really show you all that much...
-
You have stats for classes played, but is that consistent for classes played in crucible?
-
It's not that good players play Hunters. It's the fact that Hunters are the easiest class for someone coming from a game like CoD to excel at.
-
Statistics don't lie.
-
Since when was being agile op
-
Hunters take skill to use in crucible. Titans and warlocks are just cheese classes. If u use them in iron banner I just laugh every time I out gun you.
-
Play with a Hunter in crucible for a while, come back with your tears to tell us how wrong you were.
-
I prefer hunter in pvp, and I'm not a bad player. I would agree the hunter skill set is more pvp focused but saying that, I have seen some powerful titans in the crucible, it's all about how you play your class.

Shoulder charge for the win
-
So what, get good with another character then, or jts use a hunter. If they balanced things too much destiny will just become call of duty

Edited by Albuterol Junky: 3/31/2015 2:47:18 PM63% of people know how great we look in flashy cloaks.
-
Good players use hunters because the hunter class awards good gunplay and movement. Titans and warlocks rely on abilities, instant supers, overshields, and OHK. Hunters are naturally better shots thanks to chain of woe, etc rewarding critical hits.
-
Edited by UncleFunSpoiler: 3/31/2015 2:34:17 PMIf the sample sizes are similar, as in there are roughly the same numbers amongst the three classes, then number one rings true. I think the hunter class suits a play style. I can get in in close and be dirty, but that's not my strong suit. I prefer medium range combat while using cover and quickness to run like a coward if I have to. I applaud the titans who can go into a room and clear it as I applaud the warlocks that revive or throw that Sunny D purple stuff from across the map. Gentlemens and Gentlewomans, this is just a wicked version of Rock (titan), Paper (warlock) and Scissors (hunter).
-
What subclass are all these top tier hunters using?
-
Well the nerfed the dogshit out of auto rifles twice because too many people used them...
-
Stopped reading once you said the solution. "Good players play as Hunters"
-
Edited by Afawafa: 3/31/2015 1:02:29 PMI'd just like to point out that this kind of reasoning was the same kind that Bungie used when they nerfed ARs. Lots of people are using something? Must be OP better nerf.
-
Edited by Veinq: 3/31/2015 12:27:20 PMI play as a Hunter because I prefer the triple jump over anything else. I also play as a Hunter because the throwing knife is badass. The faster reload is nice too. I personally think Titans are OP with their 1hit melee, suppressor grenade and Fist of Havoc. (which has a too large aoe)
-
When you state "...(anything) are heavily OP", then you are calling for a nerf.

What needs to be done is the hunters need to lose their radar during their supers, both golden gun and blade dancer. They Gould be able to activate around the corner from someone and go in and kill them but shouldn't be able to use their radar to go hunt the rest of the team. This would balance out hunter supers.
