i have some comparisons i would like to address to the the warlock sun singer super, this is not an attack on warlocks but a look deeper into what this class is or was originally i may do others if this is regarded well
the sun singer class super for warlocks is an unfinished super
the sun singer was perhaps one of the final supers being made for the classes entirely as it has many remnants of a different class entirely, for warlocks a lot believe them to be battle worthy and front liners but in reality they were supposed to be the support class, as the titan is the defensive tank, and the hunter damage etc. however some where along the line something changed causing the classes to be streamlined and simplified which made most of the classes feel dull in comparison to the warlock which had to have most of its perks reworked quickly to accommodate a simple fps
a simple way to judge this is by the perks the class has and the way they are described to work
Radiance: Fill yourself with Solar light, dramatically increasing the effectiveness of all your abilities.
simple super, helpful to you but the description is funny when you change your to team
Song of Flame: While active, Radiance reduces all cool downs for nearby allies.
this is simple almost no avoiding this
Radiant Skin: While active, Radiance reduces incoming damage.
why would you need to take more damage for a super if its a super, seems like the warlock was a support needing more defense to survive without being in the back the whole time
Fireborn: Radiance can now be activated from beyond the grave. Doing so returns you to life.
this is the kicker, most people use this in PVP and use it to get the upper hand on people however this is only because PVP was a cash in and has no true value for class supers, but in the case of PVE during raids and strikes it seems like the support was given an ability to come back to life multiple times due to it becoming a problem if the support is taking too much damage. this happens all the time in most RPG's but they have healing abilitys to save them, in the case of sun singer they do not
Flame Shield: Damaging enemies with Scorch reduces incoming damage for a short time.
this ones weird and out of place due to its power compared to the titan, titans gain a sheild due to a kill but warlocks get it immidiatly? it seems again the warlocks were a weaker class and fitting of a support role that needed to survive the longest
Solar Wind: Hitting an enemy with Scorch knocks them back.
simple why do you want to knock back enemies? answer because in its current form its a simple small push but if it were wider and stronger it could push a group of enemies away.
Brimstone: Killing enemies with Scorch causes them to explode.
gotta throw some form of offensive attack for support classes or else no one will play one
Radiant Will: Increases the duration of Radiance.
seems pointless without the increased grenade recharge speed but with support buffs for your team who wouldn't want some extra power with extended time?
Sunburst: Killing an enemy with Scorch has a chance to generate Orbs of Light.
this screams support because scorch kills everything without even trying and you know it
Touch of Flame: All grenades ignite enemies, causing damage over time.
again no one wants to play only support, so give them another means to giving damage so they are not left out
Angel of Light: Aiming your weapon while in the air will hold you in place for a short time.
something was definitely changed here as this seems like if you take away "aiming your weapon" and move "you" in front of will and change hold to hover it becomes a completely different sentence
" while in the air you will hover in place for a short time"
Gift of the Sun: Gain an additional grenade.
more grenades to support your team with
any disagreements on this?

I really couldn't understand anything you just said. Sunsinger can be specialized for support just like Defenders, it's just that not a lot of players use those perk setups and relevant exotic armor.

Edited by Number279: 4/11/2015 9:20:57 PMSelf res isn't good in Crucible. Most of your post doesn't make sense, especially the part about floating in place. If you take words out of any sentence it's going to completely change the meaning. You touched a nerve by acting like a small child and behaving inappropriately. You touched a small child inappropriately. See the difference a few words can make?
-
Only scrubby sun singers use self res in crucible. All about that radiant skin. Go ham right away with a flame shield and you can basically kill a blade dancer with melee before he can get you. Try it out sometime.
-
So how is it unfinished?
-
I don't think that Radiance is necessarily "unfinished." Sunsinger does precisely what you say it's supposed to - provide a defensive/semi-supportive counterpart to the fast-paced offensive Voidwalker.

This is all interesting, and you've obviously put a lot of work into it, but it's all unsubstantiated assumptions. I won't be any more critical then that, because, hey, you could be right. Who knows what happened with the class system durning development. Either way, thanks for the interesting read.

Highest damaging super in the game is Radiance with HoPF, and it's not even close.
-
No. Angel of light is amazing. It does fit because you can shoot from behind your team and get a lat of the land from high up
-
I don't see what you're trying to say...you think it is a hodge podge? Sunsingers have a set of abilities and perks designed to enhance the sunsinger....it is all pretty in line, the idea is really quite cohesive. I feel like you're grasping at straws to make this into something it isn't.

All classes have a support of some sort. Defender, Bladedancer and Sunsinger can all be used as support. Striker, Voidwalker and Gunslinger are all pure offence.
-
I feel like, because of their diverse skills, a Sunsinger can play the Joker in your Hand. For example, I can tank harder than some Titans and keep my team alive in tight spots. Another, is that I can save us from the brink of a wipe. Or, max out speed and just run through enemies with melee ( OMFG YES I LOOOOVE Claws for my Warlock ) and shotguns ( Univ.Rem. and Sec.Handshake ).
-
Sunsinger are very versatile. They can be damage heavy damage dealers or a support class or both. All depends on your perk choice. Radiance ismy favourite super in the game. We can make orbs the easiest as anything we kill under radiance generates orbs (bullets, grenades and melees) scorch is a one hit kill under radiance. With heart of praxic fire we have the highest damage output of any super. We can set up to keep shields down (touch of flame and viking funeral) we can help our fireteam with cooldowns and create orbs from melee kills. We can be tanks with radiant skin. We can play so many different rolls it keeps it fresh

I don't see your point in the sense that to me unfinished means that there would be abilities that don't do anything, rather I find the sunsingers to be versatile and effective in a number of situations, there is no perfect subclass build for everything. But that doesn't mean you can't have a "default" that you like to go with.
