Anyone who believes their blatant LIE that PS3s and 360s just can't handle any more items in a vault is a subhuman, buttkissing, fanboy retard. Use your fracking brain. The inventory systems on some SNES games is more advanced than Destiny's system, and that's on hardware that's well over 20 years old. You're really telling me that systems which can handle Skyrim and Oblivion can't handle remembering a reasonable number of weapons? It's just a few pieces of information each - the weapon name, its rolled perks, the experience gained with it so far, and the selected upgrades. Any half-wit, first year programmer could easily structure and store thousands of items with that much information in a way that even basic computers from 15 years ago could handle.

  • You are dim. Try putting a high res image in any old Nintendo system. It doesn't work. My phone takes pictures that take up more memory than most Super Nintendo games. You need to stay in school.

Have YOU ever had to deal with that 512 MB RAM? Understand that 99% of that is already being used by the rest of the game. You manage all the bits while maintaining stability for a popular online game. One screw up and god knows how many Gjallarhorns will be destroyed.

  • Started a new topic: Vault space?...Another roll of toilet paper!!

  • I don't believe it's a hardware issue more than its a network server issue. Remember these items we hold, all of them, are not stored locally on our systems which is why there is no save file. This is evident in when you first open up your menu and all the other non equipped guns and items don't pop up immediately. It's possible that increasing the vault size to much would make the user suffer load times or some sort of memory issue. Just an educated theory. So until they work around this problem I say be happy. Or play borderlands, that game is soooo much fun.

  • It might be that they are running into memory issues because they are using peer to peer and the 360and ps3 are at their limits. While that would make sense, it begs the question--why aren't you using your servers, this is 2015.

  • I think the issue is not one of storing the information about the weapons (which I believe is actually done on Bungie's servers, not our consoles) but rather displaying all those items on screen at once which is entirely different, especially in today's HD world. However I agree with many others here, would not multiple pages/screens solve this issue?

  • Nothing that anyone can say is going to make me believe it's more difficult to display 100 or 200 little, static, 2D icons than it is to display dozens of 3D enemies interacting in a 3D environment in real time combat situations. Nothing. That doesn't pass the common sense test. But yes, on top of that they could easily put a few pages. Bottom line - they're lying to us (again).

  • <shrug> You have a point there and I'm certainly no expert. But why would they go through the extra effort of removing the weapon compare feature on the previous gen consoles? Just to give creedence to their lie?

  • To mask their extreme incompetence. It's clear to me that the core game was designed by a group of talented individuals, while the maintenance of the game was passed to people who have absolutely no idea what they're doing. It takes them months to even acknowledge bugs that respectable devs would have apologetically patched week 1.

  • Well, as somebody who has spent the last 30 years making a living out of writing software, I disagree with you. By, hey, what do I know?

  • ^This. I don't write it anymore, but I interact daily with the people that do, and have a great deal of input into what our corporation sees. Things are seldom as easy as they look from the other side. By saying this I am not excusing Bungie for lack of foresight; this problem should have been easy to see given the economy and incentives built into the game. Scalability, as mentioned by others, should have been considered from the start. However, retroactively fitting that in is likely not an easy thing to accomplish.

  • Exactly. We've been dealing with the B Team while anyone competent has been vacationing on our money since launch

  • And it likely wouldn't take them 7 months to do it either...
