Are forerunner ships resistant to heat based weaponry? Like, for example, yuuuzon vong lava gun?

Forerunner hull plating is ridiculously powerful, and can withstand gigatons, if not petatons of damage. It really depends how powerful the lava gun is.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Yaret-Kor Here's a link to what I'm talking about. I just wanted to use you as a reference source for an argument in another post. Some genius thinks the Yuuzon Vong could melt Forerunner hull plating with these and defeat them.

They fire flaming rocks?
-
Basically. Stupid isn't it? Maybe I should just link you to the thread itself.
-
Do we know how fast they are fired? The other thing is that I noticed it's plasma. Here's the thing, if the plasma, fire, or heat isn't melting the rock, then it's entirely negligible. It may as well be firing a rock without the heat.

The wiki article stated that they have a reletively low firing speed (at least compared to the typical Star Wars blaster bolt.) They also have to pull ammo from a source in order to fire. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/111643766/0/0/1 Here's the thread.

It's Vex. I'm not gonna even bother. He thinks everything can beat Halo.
-
Oh. So I'm just feeding him then? I'm reletively new to the Bungie forums so I don't entirely know who's who just yet.
-
You've made your point. The good thing is that everyone knows Vex often pulls shit out of his ass.
-
Ok then. Speaking of Forerunners, any idea what the "secret" mentioned in the new Halo novel might be based on prior knowledge?
-
I don't follow. Can you provide a quote?

I honestly have no idea. I'm very intrigued though.
-
Same here. Perhaps it has to do with the chemicals found on the Halo shard in Halo: Nightfall
-
Probably not.
-
I doubt it. In Halo 4, the area around where Infinity's MAC rounds hit the Mantle's Approach is melted. MAC rounds may not be heat-based weapons, but the fact that they caused the hull to melt somewhat proves that they can be damaged by heat-based weaponry.

If you hit something with enough kinetic force you'll create enough heat to melt steel. Heat is merely the release of energy; some meteor impacts have caused the ground to fuse.
