Yes, it may be a discipline, but other sports can also be disciplines as well.

it involves alot of athleticism and some people who have good sponsors go pro....my bros old parkour coach did all the moves in assasins creed and the moves for slade in batman arkham origins....so there is a possibility it could bring in the bank....and if your in really good shape, making money or happy with what your doing... pretty sure they dont give a shit what negative things people say about it
-
That's what people with no real talent do right?
-
Doesn't it require some form of competition to be a sport? If not then it should probably count it's more work than most sports
-
sport [ spôrt ] NOUN an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment: "team sports such as baseball and soccer" synonyms: (competitive) game(s) It could be since youre probably trying to compete against other parkourists for mad props or death.

If there is organized competition or a clear goal in place, sure.

I don't think it could be classified as one in itself just random running, vaulting, and climbing. If it were organised through set courses and timed, then sure, why not?

Edited by Britton: 3/26/2015 3:52:27 AMIs rock climbing a sport or an athletic skill? Its one of those things that kinda goes in between the two.
-
Parkour at this moment in time is just an athletic activity. Although, I can imagine the Olympics eventually incorporating parkour into an event.
-
I don't know why people take it as an insult when others don't consider what they like to be a "sport."

I prefer free running. I could care less about the fancy backflips and such. And climbing. Climbing is very fun.

Parkour itself? Not really, it's a state of mind. Free-running? Yes.
