im glad you understand thats its not discriminatory at all. but just in case u really dont get: You see, we do not live in a gender equal society and many many sports and hobbies are male-dominated without particular logical reason (ie unlike some physical sports where the male physical build gives a distinct advantage) but rather as a historical continuity. This changes the environment and thus the ethical considerations we have, with which to decide if the label of discrimination can be assigned. You see we cannot judge as if the environment was already equal and so act as if we’re simply trying to maintain this equality. The environment is not equal and men are the privileged party in this case. have a great day

we do in fact live in a gender equal world or at least most countries have gender equality laws, you see both genders are offered that same rights, and opportunities. major league sports are male dominated because at the time they were created there wasn't gender equality but now there are pro versions of almost all sports. also discrimination is defined as: "Discrimination is action that denies social participation or human rights to categories of people based on prejudice. This includes treatment of an individual or group based on their actual or perceived membership in a certain group or social category" you are not allowing players entry to a social group based on you prejudice against someone being born male. simply put your logic is flawed if you believe a place is unequal you believe you should as to your self proclaimed inequality with a discriminatory group. have you never heard be the change you want to see in the world? if you drive others away why should they have to stop discriminating (which they aren't stop acting like a game, destiny, is sexist)

How are they privileged? In this particular case by dominating all such events (ex: video games). Why is this privilege? Because of a few things. A man playing in such an event, is not automatically assumed to represent the whole of his gender. If he wins or loses, he’s a good or bad player respectively, while women are treated as if they represent every other woman. Second, There will always be a majority of males which act and speak in manners comfortable to other males. This by default makes it an uncomfortable environment for women, instantly putting them on their guard and accentuating their alienation. So these are all effects that any woman entering a male-dominated hobby will face, something I’ve seen personally in gaming groups to the where I work. Even when there are people who wish to have more girls involved, their eagerness can inflame the problem rather than help (think of the awkward sweaty gaming geek trying to be nice to a shy girl joining the group, while leering at her boobs half the time.) So all of these constitute the privileged position of males in a sector and thus an inequality that will remain until sexism is abolished. In this situation, someone who strives for [b]equality, cannot simply act as if equality already exists.[/b] This is simply living in a dreamland and giving your silent consent to sexism at best, or actually acting like an unwitting apologist to misogyny at worst. Rather, someone who strives for equality roots for the weakest party until such time as equality has been achieved. And this is the ethical aspect that determines that a women-only event in a male-dominated hobby is not discrimination.

I never said anything about privilege. Gaming is not male dominated a 4% difference is not domination (as of 2014 its 52m 48f) OK so stop acting like you are being forced into a community of sexist. Also I never said ignore any sexism yes there will always be sexism and racism as long as people are able to have their own opinions but genders are equal in 2015 also you said that males are not generalized yet you yourself are generalizing males and not allowing entry which as I said is discrimination. Be the change accept others and show them that you are just another gamer force them to realize that we aren't male gamers and female gamers but instead we are all just gamers.

So your suggestion is to put myself in situations where I will be harassed to prove that im as good as male players? The day I can join every and any clan and any fireteam on any game and not be harassed is the day women wont need seperate places to be safe. But untill then a female only space is the only saftey we have.

once again there is never going to be no sexist lobbies same as no racist lobbies, but you idea of every male harassing you is just ludicrous because there is no way you could say even 50% of males are sexist also that is going against the fact that you said males aren't marginalized yet that is EXACTLY what you are doing right now and staying away will solve nothing also you don't want to talk with random people mute them or go into a party chat with the nice people and if some is mean kick or MUTE them honest you make everything an extreme and only worsen your situation by discriminating against other (you still have yet to say why this isn't discriminating)

Get your male privilege stick out of your ass. Us girls want a safe place from harassment, both sexual harassment & your type of harassment. Why does this bother you so much? Are you as bothered by the Dads of Destiny clan? Do you comment on their forum posts telling them to stop discriminating against non-Dads? No? Didn't think so. We shouldn't HAVE to mute or block people because of harassment. That's the problem. Not us trying to protect ourselves from it in the first place.

actually yes i had a lengthy argument with a DoD member about why their clan is also discriminatory also how many time have you been harassed by a male in destiny because before jan. or dec. you couldn't hear people unless you invited them. and if this is harassment then i too have been harassed in game many of times but i don't discriminate and perpetuate the problem, i muted them and moved on until i found many friends of both genders i am not male privileged, you are just discriminatory

A. if you've got a problem with Dads of "Destiny being "discriminatory", you're a troll. B. Not that it's any of your business, but I have been harassed by male gamers NUMEROUS times since launch. There are other ways to harass people that don't involve voice chat. I have had people message me over PSN & have had to block them since they did not stop when asked. C. I don't care if you don't harass people, if you're not standing up against those who are doing the harassing & trying to stop the source of the problem, then you are part of the problem. D. Are you male? Then you've got male privilege. No amount of you denying it exists will make it go away. Sorry buddy.

A) not a troll someone you dislike the idea of discrimination within the gaming community B) so simply not looking or blocking a psn will stop messaging and do you still have any of these messages? C) is stand up against harassers when did i say i didn't but clans that then discriminate only perpetuate the problem by keeping the image of a girl gamer as rare as a unicorn but in reality they account for 48% of gamers 4) so i pose a question rather than giving you my gender and after u answer i will tell you. If i was a male what privileges do i have within a game like destiny also why does my gender matter when discussing the discrimination of players within a game any one cane point it out and see that it is wrong.

Any group of people that doesn't just let anyone join is discriminatory, yeah? So by your logic, all major sports leagues are discriminatory. So are millions of other groups. Maybe take up arms against them, too. This is just a place where those who identify as female can seek out other female identifying individuals. If there wasn't harassment, there would be no need for an all female group. But until the harassment stops, some of us want a safe place. Don't like it? Don't join. & when I talk about privilege, I'm talking about the big picture, not Destiny. The amount of females that have been threatened with -blam!- vastly outweighs the amount of males that are. That isn't to say that those males that are threatened don't matter, they do. But that is something feminism as a whole is against. I'm done with this conversation. their is nothing in major league sports team that say someone can't join just they wont get contracts because they arn't good at said sport totally different. once again there will never be no harassment as long as people have opinions but you are exaggerating how many females are harassed i have played and befriended many female gamers all saying they have never been treated that way. i am saying within destiny there is no privilege so that has nothing to with create a group within this game. its clear you cant see the errors in you ways have a nice day
