I feel your pain. Everytime I get shards as a reward for *anything* I feel cheated. Bungie has made a total mess of armor upgrade materials. Why they don't have some kind of exchange system for them like Eris does radiant is 2nd on my gripe list only to the ridiculous vault storage issue...
