Don't preorder, don't buy digital and don't buy season passes. Power over purchase prevents you from being burned.
Edit: it's common for season passes to not be complete for up to a year. That's why they're not a good buy.

Yeah after halo 4 had prestige classes locked for no spec ed buyers, I didn't want to make the same mistake again... first and last season pass for me haha.
