It's hard to toss around the word or abbreviation "OP" properly in a game filled with so many cheap ways to get killed but many think Felwinter's Lie is this super OP shottie/sniper that ruins PVP. I do die by it often but since I prefer to stick with teammates it's rare to see Felwinter's go on a killing spree due to its poor ROF. So I ask: Is Felwinter's lie flawed and overpowered or balanced by its slow ROF? Thoughts?

I got mine yesterday and it came with shot package or something and luck in the chamber. Hell yeah
-
Not OP just annoying
-
It's a specialized tool. Against a group it is bad, but if you are able to play cat and mouse it is deadly like nothing else, but your aim has to be true. My weapon selection is: Gheleons Demise (bought version with firefly), Felwinters Lie (rerolled RNG), Thunderlord

It's a great gun. That is why it does not need nerfing. When a gun is used with more effectiveness than others, it is up to the players to learn how to adjust on the fly countermeasures to combat against it. If everything that kills better than the average gun (which the game has different tiered guns in the first place for a reason) gets nerfed, then it won't matter what you choose; they will all be equal. No fun. The biggest mistake that is being made by nerfing things instead of buffing others to match is taking what people love: away from their gun. Plus it condones a Lazy Gamer. Players need to challenge themselves to be diverse in combat and multitasking with tactical combat. Nerfs just water down and dilute the gunfighting. Pulse rifle buff:great. Auto rifle range:ok. Auto rifle damage nerf:bad. Suros is Suros for a reason. Take away what makes it great and it is just a white version of Shadow Price/Vanquisher {which are great guns btw, but still not Exotics}. It is an Exotic and needs to be felt as such. By the owner and the one getting plugged by it. We need to grow as players and guardians, the only way is to combat those who are substantially better than we are ourself. Evolution is growing stronger and better than the environment we inhabit. You'll never go Super Saiyan unless you had to, to defeat an enemy beyond your limit and capabilities. Just be glad it didn't come with Third Eye & Full Auto, bro, just be glad about that...

Edited by MonkMilitant: 3/22/2015 6:29:25 PMWait until after this IB and all those folks who failed to buy last month (mind boggling) or get the drop this week don't have it. It'll be a long time coming back. It is not OP. It is powerful but balanced. Very roll reliant. I kept my one from last month stock as it was already good. I've blown 42 motes trying to reroll my drop version...nada. I'll get more motes and be rdy for next IB. I want: Void Aggressive Ballistics Shot Package Knee pads/Agility Spray and Play/Crowd Control

It's just missing the sniper scope to make it OP...

I've found that Invective with it's range and rate of fire is more useful to me, as well as Secret Handshake when I want to use another Exotic elsewhere. If I had perfect aim, Felwinter's would be my go to, but the RoF is just too slow for my play style.
-
I'm not in love with it. It's a friggin elephant gun, that's for sure, but if you miss your first shot you're probably dead. I was extremely lucky in last week's nightfall and got a Judgement VI with Luck in the Chamber, Hammer Forged, and Shot Package. It's impact is a smidge lower than FL, but it's twice the shotgun because it fires faster. Honestly, waaaaaay too much has been made of FL's impact and deadliness. As long as your shotty has Shot Package and Hammer Forged it's a beast. Until I got that judgement VI the best shotty I had was the vendor version of Secret Handshake. It was WAAAAY better and deadlier than my FL with shot package.

Slowest rate of fire and worst stability Run into a room full of guys, youll one kill but the fire rate is so slow you won't be able to get that second shot off
-
Biggest regret is not picking it up last iron banner ... I wasn't the biggest fan of shotguns but the playstyle trends in pvp forced me to learn how to use them on certain maps .. My KD went up immediately - I use secret handshake now .. Even though I don't have one Iam honestly tired of all the nerfs ..
-
Its just another shotgun, but with the ability to get preferred perks
-
Edited by PvT Nuclear: 3/22/2015 6:20:37 PMMany other shotguns are just as good, such as my Hide and Seek-42 and the Judgement VI.
-
Yes, it's OP. Fact.
-
The distance is a bit much but OP? No.. Vex Mythoclast in the early days was OP.. Thorn is just about there.. Shotguns in general got too much of a boost in PVP, really they were just fine before the buff in PVP. Slow ROF makes it understandable but that distance on it with the right perks is incredible. iTrigg Verdict: Felwinters Lie is not OP
-
Im just sick of people only using shotguns. I think its funny me gunning them down before they ever get close but seriously. Have some class

-
Anyone mind checking my felwinters lie on my warlock and let me know if it's good enough?
-
Go play another game and ask to nerf their weapons please?
-
I love felwinter's lie... It makes me happy :)
-
OP is the example shotguns is the demonstration of it or that's what people say let's take a look honestly they nerf shotguns again everybody loses their minds or loves it but in reality it's the "oh it got nerfed so it's trash" affect that happens but as so many people have said this game is about adjusting Ex 1: The Vex Mythoclast astounding weapon in PVE and PVP, now with the VoG becoming so easy even on hard mode many players have this high damage ultra rare gun or multiples of it, but the example is I remember specifically bungie targeting the Vex for a nerf and then again targeting it for a nerf but the soul problem is I hear "the Vex suck now" "it's trash" but this is an example of adjusting I recently have been playing iron banner and in this event yes many people us the "OP" fel winter lie but I have also seen at least one other not including my self use the Vex in every game I have played just an example of how bungie could nerf shotguns but in reality the community will adjust
-
He'll yea. 9 out of 10 when you die in crucible it's by a shotgun an 9 out of ten it's felwinters
-
Nah, it's harder to get used to than I thought it was upon actually using one with hammer forged and shot package. Definitely have to pick your targets and dip out immediately.
-
-
It's a high risk high reward shotgun it's not op. If you miss you die.
-
Balanced by its RoF. If I come up against 2 enemies together, it can be a real struggle to stay alive to kill both. Found Verdict has decent range as well as full auto, that thing can rip through 2 or 3 people very quickly.
