It isn't that you guys all get handed exotics that I lucked into through RNG. In fact, I don't really care about what you do or how you play.
It just gives me less to do in Destiny. And I enjoy the game and enjoy having things to play for in the game.
If you think about it, the raids are pretty easy. Takes maybe a couple full clears to get a full set of 32 armor. Add in the Iron Banner, and it's really not that hard to hit level 32. So once you're level 32, have a few raid clears under your belt, have all of the raid items you want, have spent your fair share of time running Crucible or Strikes with friends, just for kicks, completing bounties.. what is there left to do in Destiny?
Farm, because I guess that's what you're supposed to do in a loot-based game. It turns into a chore, and you farm because you tell yourself you want to have it all. Catch em all. "Complete" it.
But when Xur is eventually going to bring you every exotic trophy item that you don't yet have, why are you going to waste your time farming?
This is the big problem I, and many others are running into. There's no incentive to even farm anymore, because I know that Friday Xur RNG is my best shot at getting whatever I don't have.
Is that all there is to Destiny now?
It seems the system that they've created is:
- Spend a few weeks in the new DLC running a raid until you get everything you want
- Run the same handful of bounties for the 500th time to level those items
- Quit playing altogether, except for the occasional Tuesday Nightfall / Heroic and Xur Friday
Is this really what Bungie wants Destiny's legacy to become? 3 weeks of brand new DLC fun followed by some weekly chores and Xur RNG? Is this really a system that can be sustained, long term?

Been on this acct 1.5 months all I bought from him was the sweet no land beyond, because I wanted it
-
The problem is, if I didn't buy them from xur, it'd probably have taken a good year to get all the exotics I have now. My drop rates are terrible. I haven't gotten a single good exotic that want a repeat in over a month.
-
I dont think Xur is your problem. Seems your issue is just the general lack of content in general. Most of my exotics i have gotten from just weekly things like nighfalls and raids. The issue is that there are only a handful of exotics and even a smaller amount that are even worth it. Out of those Xur cant even sell all of them. I mean the dlc only brought 4 new exotic weapons. 3 if ur on xbox and 1 of which is a raid weapon...not a lot of variety added to a game already lacking content
-
Sorry. Let me take a knee and listen in as you explain how you "earnt" what is essentially a set of 1s and 0s. -blam!- off mate. Get a snickers and stop being a little bitch
-
I've been playing since the beta but only once or twice a week on weekends. Until my schedule lightens up I get maybe 7 hours a week maximum. That's being generous. I can't raid, unless it's on a Friday night between 9:00pm and 2:00 pm. I've used LFG and facebook, had up to 5 people in a lobby once but my time is so limited it never works. Did just the Atheon fight on hard once and did just Crota on easy once, that's it. Point being, I have a total of over 200 hours or 10 full days in, I've done my time and continue to play but Xur helps me to come back. This weeks nightfall I got 7 shards, for awhile there I got 4 Thunderlords, 4 weeks in a row. Xur keeps me interested with new guns to play with when I go on a dry spell. I don't think there is such a thing as "Xurned." You don't earn anything in this game anyway, it's all a pull of the slot machine handle. Might even be the other way around. I fought for my strange coins so I kinda did earn that gun. My 2 cents
-
Because rng never "hands" stuff to people right? You people with the "xurning" are straight up idiots. To get the red death you would have to run 3 heroics. Thats way more work than having it drop from one crucible match, and normally its the last place person who gets said exotic. Yeah, way more work.
-
You could always reduce your play time
-
Fun is always there. It's the main reason we play this game in my circle of friends. Try it sometime
-
creating a warlock would give you something to do and would also make it harder to hit max level with your hunter for the next dlc so i'd do that
-
Skimed your post
I don't give a sh*t on your opinion on how this game works :)
Its all work. If u don't grind in some way u don't even get the currency to make purchases. I know many on here can get whatever they want when they want, but that's life. We won't say bill gates didn't earn anything he bought and wasn't given to him as a reward. Use logic. People so used to getting participation trophies that they can't appreciate rewarding themselves. Like u want rngesus to pat u on the back for a job well done.

You do not have to buy from Xur if you do not want to
-
Xur is (sort of) a savior to me My RNG luck sucks donkey balls and I don't get very many exotics. I mean, the only two exotics I got from RNG were SUROS Regime (which I am really grateful for) and a No Land Beyond (or an exotic shard >:D) The rest of my exotics like Plan C, Icebreaker, and Red Death came from Xur. Hell, all of my exotic gear came from Xur. So, I'm kind of glad when Xur sells a halfway decent exotic that I know I have a chance getting.
-
if you play just to get things your time is already over the social aspect is the only thing that keeps people around, item collectors always leave sooner or later
-
Lol. Here is a rare sight of one of those players who thinks randomly being rewarded something by RNG is above all else.
-
You are confusing the loot with content. That's your problem. If xur wasn't in the game it changes not a goddamn thing wrong with the current state of destiny. People who say "once I get "x" I have no reason to play anymore" is just the most bizarre reason to play a game I have ever heard. Let me get this straight, you are going to get Gally and then immediately shut your game off? Mission accomplished I guess. How about buy it from xur and just stop torturing yourself. Mostly people who say that are full of it anyways. Saying its "handing" people things just makes your whole post a little tongue in cheek. You clearly have resentment towards it either way. Put it to you this way, buying something from xur requires at least two strike completions regardless of the effort you put in. Getting something RNG theoretically requires minimal effort. For instance one of my friends got a legendary engram, from a dreg, which decrypted into....a gjallarhorn. Such earned, much wow. We all had a good laugh about it, a good salty laugh. Also there is no "uniqueness" or individuality in this game. Another thing xur does not change one bit. There is not enough gear. Simple as that. The only satisfaction I get from getting something RNG is that I got to use hard light and thunderlord a few weeks before a bunch of other people and save my coins. Big freaking deal. I just didn't have to wait.

I have over 22 days of total play time in Destiny, and I have yet to luck out on more than a handful of exotics. After clearing the Nightfalls and Raids every week, and watching others get Hawkmoons, JellyHorns, Mida Multi Tool, and The Forth Horseman, along with many others, I look forward to Xur because my RNG luck sucks THAT much.

If you play a game for a carrot on a stick for then it's a crappy game imo. Personally I play cause I actually enjoy some of the content. When it gets boring I take a break. I play for enjoyment. If I wanted to pursue a collection I'd collect things that have real world value like Baseball cards or something
-
Just do not buy stuff from him. Problem solved.
-
You're obviously playing the game for all the wrong reasons. I help friends with nightfalls, raids, weeklies all week long even though I'm not getting rewards, why? Because it's fun to me. Do bounties with friends, roc strikes, crucible. There are so many fun things to do. But if you just play primarily for exotics and raid gear then yeah there is nothing for you to do, you're playing for the wrong reasons man. When you treat the game like a second job you need to give it up.

I get a few hours a night to run bounties, Iron Banner, Nightfalls, Weekly Heroics and once in a great while I will get a raid invite. So not having a ton of time I opt out of raids. With horrible drops I have only gotten Universal Remote, Ice Breaker, Thunderlord, Plan C. I am also a day 1 player. So Xur is a huge part of the game for me, and others. It also can't be about loot all the time. Enjoy the game for what it is. Not some fake, over inflated sense of self worth.

Edited by Yeetus, Clapper of Cheeks: 3/21/2015 11:24:39 PMDid you earn every exotic clearly and thoroughly through RNG? Are you perhaps the luckiest man alive? If you answered yes to either of the questions, then get off of this forum and go do something with your ability instead of crying like a bitch. EDIT: Further inspection shows a Hunter main. I rest my case.
